Hi There,

I have a query. I am going to marry my long time girlfriend and fiancée now on Nov 22. We have about 12 yrs age difference (I am older) but both families know about our relationship since beginning. We have all proofs such as pix since first meeting, family pix, skype/yahoo call logs, cards, western union receipts, emails logs and we shall have our wedding/honeymoon pix, travel documents even tickets of people who attended the wedding. Do you think this is enough to prove our relationship genuine? Should we be ready for an interview? If there will be an interview, would that be just for her or both of us since I reside in Canada. Please help us. We are very worried!

Many thanks in advance for your suggestions/comments.
Best regards,
Vishal

it probably shouldn't be an issue. A good idea in your case would be to write a little statement about the age difference and your life together and show that you don't find it to be an issue. That along with all of the other proof should make everything ok. There are plenty of people that have had bigger age gaps than you that get approved.

If you send everything you just talked about, I highly doubt you'll have much problems. It sounds like you have solid proof. Make sure you apply immediately after your marriage. They should see that you are eager to be together.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum. Ask any questions you need!

Having seen many relationships in many countries, I don't find an age difference of 12 years to be extraordinary at all. In fact, you can find greater differences in Canadian marriages.

I wonder, then, whether mentioning it might make you look defensive. By all means provide proof that your relationship is solid, but maybe don't dwell at all on the age difference.

If you're worried that the Visa officer might wonder at heart whether your girlfriend is marrying just for the visa, then indirectly address those concerns by focusing on proofs of her devotion to you.

I am 11 years older than my husband. It was not a huge problem although we did alot of explaining how age was not a facter for his family or mine. I think since your wife is younger than you, you shouldnt have a problem.

I don't think 12 years is a problem. I think he is fine.

Hello guys,

I am a newbie into these forum although, I'm glad I found this site.
May I join into your thread here?
Thanks.

Well, I agree to everyone's comments on Vish's post here.
It's really so true that age isn't an issue especially to two people who were truly in love towards each other.
There's no age discrimination in Love and Passion.
Age are just numbers ... and Love and Trust to one another is what must Reign.

In my own real life, I'm married to a man that is older than me. (He is 48 and I am 23).
As you can see, I'm almost half of my husband's age.
But I can tell that we are both so blessed.
We truly love each other and we are together for 3 years now.
And proudly speaking, We really didn't see any age issue between us....
because everyday... we finds out that we love each other more and more....
Honesty, Trust, Faithfulness/Devotion and Love reigns to us....

My sponsor is 14 years older than me.....we were approved and I had my COPR Inland in less than 8 months.

I think the only time age differences raise the red flag is when the applicants are either very, very young or when ( and forgive me for this and it's not something I agree with) the women is a lot older than the man, especially if it is the man being sponsored.

angelbrat I hope that isn't bad form us since both me (applicant) and hubby (sponsor) are 20 years old. He will turn 21 on Oct 7 though.
