Anytime you have an age difference you are adding another factor to be considered. In our society for right or wrong it is more acceptable that the woman is younger than the man. It is not impossible but steps need to be taken to show why the relationship. To think that in the op's example the visa officer will not look deeper is a disservice. It can be done but be prepared including for the high likelihood of an interview.

Agreed. Rightly or wrongly, it's a much bigger deal if the woman is the one who is older in a relationship with a significant age gap.

My spouse and I have a 16 year age gap. But not that big a deal given I'm female, the younger one and also the sponsor. And no, it's not so much that I'm an old soul as the fact that he's really immature. ;)

Also, virtually all of the cases involving large age differences, its usually the younger one being sponsored. I actually have yet to see a much younger Canadian trying to sponsor a much older spouse.

I am Canadian and sponsoring my husband 17 years older than me so it does happen. We applied Outland and have an interview next month which has been the trend for everyone at our VO.

So here's our problem folks:

I'm a 25 year old Irish national my girlfriend is 48 years old Canadian. We have been living together for 5 months now and we are madly in love and plan on getting married next January or February. Our question is how much of a negative red flag is it that she is older one with the considerable age difference.

Any advice would be really appreciated.
Hi , I am at the same situation as you are. Just wondering if you were able to get Canadian papers? Any reply would be truly appreciated. Thank you
