After our sponsorship application passes in Canada, and while we are waiting for it to clear
in Buffalo, would I be able to get clearance to visit my husband in Canada for 6 months?

You can go to the border explain to them the reason of your visit and may be given a 6 month stamp, but there are no promises.You must also prove that you will leave canada after the 6 months unless your PR is done or you apply for an extension.Just be honest with them at the border.
