Dear all friends

It is almost common to everybody that when anyone got pr Canada they got lot of benefit from Canada gov
But in reality how much is true:

If a pr holder don't have job how much he/ she will get with wife and children
If a pr holder don't have a house will he get house
If a pr holder sick will he get free medical
If a pr holder wants to study do they need to fees school

If fact what kind of benifit a pr holder can get

Pls share ur experience , bcz back home relatives people are thinking Canada gov gives everything so they are hopping too much from us

Pls help pls

The Canadian government does not give everything for free - only some things for free. If you want a good life in Canada, you must work hard just like everywhere else.

If you don't have a job, you can qualify for welfare. However welfare is very little money and you cannot live a good life on welfare. You must get a job if you don't want a bad life.

No - you won't get a house or apartment. You must pay to either buy a house or apartment or pay to rent a house or apartment. There is subsidized housing available in most cities. If you live in subsidized housing, you must still pay rent but the rent is cheaper than it would normally be. However the waiting list for subsidized housing is 10 years+ in most cities. So you won't get subsidized housing as a new immigrant.

Yes - you will get free medical.

Yes - your children can study at school without paying fees until they reach the college / university level. Once they reach the college / university level - everyone pays fees.

Thanks for your reply

So it is not true that pr holder will get housing benefit

Pr holder children can study free up to college level

Only if your child goes to public schools. School funding is mainly paid by property taxes.

It's hard to explain to relatives how you won't be instantly rich once moving to Canada. You could work your whole life trying to lift them up as well. If you want to succeed for yourself and your immediate family, you have to put yourself first. It's the hard truth of it.. I know it can divide many families.

What more do you want to know? You will have to ask specific questions if you want specific answers.

I suppose another myth is that the government will take care of you in your retirement. Yes - the government does provide a pension - but once again, it's certainly not enough to live a good life on. You must save quite a lot of money yourself if you want a good life during retirement.

Again, you need to ask specific questions if you want specific answers. We can't guess what you are thinking.

Very good questions here are the answers:

1. If you dont have a job you will be given such minimal money to the point that it forces you to do some job. Seriously its really that bad you can hardly pay rent and eat food with that money. Its the next best thing to living in the street.

2. No, you will not be given any house, apartment, you can go to the homeless shelter, the person sleeping beside you could possibly be a drug addict, child molester, rapist, chronic alcoholic, begger, etc. If you are comfortable sharing the room with them then its okay but you will definately not be given a house or an apartment.

3. Yes you will get free medical however the amount of money you pay for taxes and for goods and services in Canada any person with good health will fall sick either ways.

4. I dont understand your question but I think I know what you are asking and I will go by that assumption. If you are going to public school then its free till grade 12 after that you have to pay for university. Private schools cost money. If you need day care for your children then its about $1200 per month. If you want a 2 bedroom apartment its about $1300 per month in a descent location. Groceries will cost you roughly $400 per month. TTC transit pass is $120 per month. Misc expenses like eating out, laundry, buying clothes, cell phone about $500 per month Minimum wage in Ontario is $10.25

So if you work atleast 12 hours a day for 7 days a week for one month you will barely break even.
Just giving you a reality check on the expenses and the expensive lifestyle, hope this helps

Thanks every for reply

To be honest I am little angry on me bcz

My all relatives are thinking that if I got Canada pr I Cana take care everyone by finance bcz they are thinking Canada gov will give me everything which is not true

That's why I was asking this question

So that I can explain them what real matter ??

Thanks again

You can explain to them that your kids will get free school until age 18 and that you all get free medical care but have to pay for prescription medication. You will have to rent or buy a house yourself with your own money and you will have to find a job yourself in order to earn that money. That's all you need to tell them. If they don't believe you, tell them they can move to Canada themselves and find out.

There is one benefit that you will get and that is child tax benefit. That is, the Canadian government will help you out a little if you have children but it's not that much.

As a new immigrant, you can not get employment insurance (unemployment benefits). In order to qualify, you will have to work a certain number of hours. The employment insurance is only 55% of your income in your last job but yet never more than $501 per week. If you do not qualify for employment insurance but are destitute, you can get some welfare but usually it is either enough to pay rent or eat but not necessarily both.

They will never understand. At least that's our experience. They won't believe you and they won't want to believe you. When you don't send money to them for every whim, they will turn their backs and call you cheap or selfish. You have to be prepared to come to Canada without looking back. Or come to Canada and do very well for yourself, enough to help them too.

They probably look at it from the point of view that even if you earn the minimum wage of 10.25 per hour, then you would still be making about 21k a year. That's considered a large amount of money in most of the world. It's even comparable to the GDP per capita of some wealthy countries such as Saudi Arabia and South Korea.

They probably think, you make more in two months than they do in one year, how come you're always running out of money, and unable to help them. What they don't seem to realize is, the cost of living in Canada is also much much higher compared to the third world :( Not to mention the taxes...

Thanks every one for your ans

In a world if u r pr holder u can make your life eassy with ur child / wife

But not for every members of relatives

I am thankful to all that every one point out from real fact

So I can exain them.

Once again thanks
