hi everyone
I landed in Montréal on 3/7 and yes it worth all this waiting .it is very beautiful and full of life city . peaceful place and everyone here is friendly . this is the perfect place to rise your children
once we landed there was 2 lines one for permanent residents and Canadian and the other for visitors .we went to the line of visitors so the officer checked our document and give him the declaration card . in this card you need to fill you details and if you carry more the 10000 dollars or any food . after checking all the documents she asked us to collect our luggage and continue our immigration process at the immigration department . there was only us at that time (around 9:30 pm) so they start processing our application and explain to us everything about our permanent residence here is the questions
have you ever been refused to enter Canada ? have you ever been sent away from Canada because a crime? how much money you carry ? how much money you have back in you country ? do you carry any kind of food (meat ,sandwiches ,diary,...) after that she asked us to sign one copy of (POR) and gave us the second copy and asked us to keep it forever as proof of landing then congrats us to become officially permanent residence and asked us to go to quebec office where they welcomed us and gave us some documents about quebec
this is my experience until now if you have any questions please ask me

yes sure they ask us how long you will stay and if you are here for landing only or for settling down . so if you are here for landing she explain to us that we can travel right away but in order to enter Canada again you need to apply for travel document from Canadian embassy in your country or if you will stay until you will get the pr or settling down then you need to provide the mailing address of the apartment where you stay . normally if you rent a house here you can ask them to provide you with mailing address where the pr will be shipped to your door . I asked her if we can give the address of a friend but she refused . so we choose to get the pr cards before we leave because it is very hard and complicated procedure to get the traveling document . unfortunately the processing time for pr card is very long these days because most of immigrants land in summer . last update 83 days and here is the link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp
and as I said you can go outside Québec while you are waiting for pr cards but you should have mailing address which is an apartment rented to deliver pr card to.

strange why they divided it for you but one federal applicant had the same thing and after 2 or 3 weeks they received passport submission

what if you have to stay at a hotel or guesthouse since you might not have any friend in montreal, would giving the officer that address would be ok

no need to stay in hotel rent furnished studio for a month it is cheaper than hotel or you can go to room rent. you will find many who would like to rent rooms in their apartments

Unfortunately nothing new. I have been in process for almost two months. It looks like our files are put aside again with no action whatsoever.
I hope you and dr ali and ronnette will keep us updated as you have been waiting for about four months after the medicals.
