after applying for work visa in Kingston Jamaica, questions...

Hi everyone!
My friend applied on May 20th online for his work visa (he was hired by a very reputable local farm in canada) and dropped off the paper work to the Kingston office in Jamaica, also that same day.
The officer took what was needed then, contract, LMO, filled form for the visa, passport and photos etc.

About 2 weeks later, around June 10th, he got the DHL package back and they were requesting the IMM 5645 form, which he had filled but they didn't initially took (along with family's birth ids) on May 20th. (strangely) Now, that they have only requested this, does this mean that was the only thing they needed?? and also, how long do you guys think it will take from here now?

anyone been through this before or that knows someone who did? would just help to have an idea. just wondering if it will take very long now that they asked for that last form.

I am also from Jamaica. I have a study permit to leave in August. I did not apply for my spouse or children because I did not want to risk being turned down. Now I want to apply for open work permit for spouse and TRV for children. What do you think my chances are now?

no those processing times don't help my question is very specific to them not accepting a form they needed later on!! here is my question again, someone please help me understand this....

also u say you did not apply for them when you applied, but did you at least include them on your application still? if you did, then, they could apply now as their info is already on your family information form. the 5645 form. (the same one that my friend was asked by the embassy to send, after they didn't initially take it when he dropped off his application).

Yes I did include them on my forms, I just did not apply for any visas for them at that time. What I notice is that the Jamaican website says Personal Information form and not Family Information like the one I attached the link for below, maybe that is why they did not take it from you. The forms are similar but formatted different and they don't accept them hand written again. I completed the PIF form on the study permit application checklist and it is also on the work permit application checklist as well, check it and you will see. The PIF form is a MUST so that is the only reason I can come up with for you.

The package the agent applied with included the IMM 5645 form, the officer did not take it, but they did ask for it 2 weeks later, (specifically the same form 4645, NOT the PIF) if you would have read carefully you would have seen that all along i'm talking about the same form. personal information form is only for visitors visa who apply for the package for visitation only, that is not what he used at all, again IMM 5645 form is all that was used the entire time..... my friend's application is for work, SEEN! (see the link) this is the package his agent used, step 3 was what he had completed that was not initially taken, but then requested later on---> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/work.asp There are NO PIF, other than the 5645 form in this package. read carefully, i know cos i have someone else who applied for a visitor only visa and that package did include the PIF but no 5645 form, all different forms. totally different packages from one to another. know that! ALL was properly filled by his agent, who knows how to fill them. again, that exact form, written the same way it was on May 20th, including all kids birth id's WAS NOT taken on May 20th, but then requested later on in June. the reason they initially gave for not taking it was "we don't need it" when they did need it.

here how mi two peeps (haley & msbb) a cuss out each adda man come on guys, I think itgs just a misunderstanding on both sides. We have always helped each other on this forum, i personally have received helped from BOTH of you. Lets move on:

MSBB - sometimes the person checking the docs is not necessarily the "VO" and may be ignorant, I think thats what happened to ur friend. Hoprfully he will hear from them soon and I pray that was an isolated incident as that just wastes time.

Haley - I am not sure about ur case, however, maybe if you do the applications now and submit them, they can meet u in canada. Meaning, just apply and photocy your Visa and include with their application. They may ask y u did not put them on your student visa initially, so start thinking of a reason/s from now.

Haley & MSBB, I submitted my study permit applciation yesterday, will keep u both informed.

When you drop off your package at the Kingston Office do you get a paper when to come back to pick up your passport? Or do you wait and they will call you?

I sent my applications thru Fedex. As far as I know if you drop off your package you will receive an email or call from the embassy when your passport & other docs is ready for pick-up. Good Luck!
