I applied in May and got my AOR in September from London CIC, but they advised in the letter that no further action will be taken until the bloody new rules come in effect (..and we dont know when they will). Elections have been held and a new government is in the office. Now whats holding them from to prove that they are responsible administrators of a responsible government.

I wonder if they are making people wait ultra-long on purpose or is there something else going on under the carpet. But whatever it is, applicants ARE losing interest. Well done CIC, if that was your aim!!

I have a tendancy to agree. Same situation here, lodged application in April 2008 and received "Acknowledgement of Receipt" noting a "provisional file number", but in the same breath stating that no further action will be taken until the rules are made known. Load of cods wallop if you ask me. Will be extremely p...ed if having to have waited for a long time, then to be told sorry your employment catagory is not mentioned amongst the holy 38!!!!!!!!!

Well I also came to know that Canada is going to follow or atleast amend with respect to immigration policy of Australia for the skilled workers. Aus. have the list of almost similar type as that of Canadian's immigration law makers are saying about.

I'm Chemist professionally and it lies in the Aus. list but don't have any idea about Canadian list, only can have hope for it.

Moreover, thanks for reply. Hope your husband's occupation will be included too.

Although much published in the media is the fact that Canada and Australia have a ‘nearly-same’ economic cycle. Also, that the same woman who helped Australia refurbish its immigration policy a decade ago (Ms. Lesleyanne Hawthorne, University of Melbourne) was heavily involved in the process when consultations on the same subject were initiated in Canada by immigration ex-minister Diane Finley. So we can expect some similarities. …But what I don’t see in common about both of the countries is the amount of resources (land, natural resources etc) each has vs. their current population and its expected growth over a certain period of time, the extreme diversity in their climates and their regional proximities, availability of jobs and employers’ approach towards immigrants in each country, the cost of property and living in general, attitudes of their residents towards newcomers, etc etc just to name a few.

The issues above ARE important when one makes a decision to leave their homeland and settle in another country and HAVE to be taken into account before CIC even thought to develop a like-for-like immigration policy as Australia.

I've heard that canada is in great need of proffesional workers thats why they want to make the immigration process faster so i think this time they will include most occupations but after 2011 they'll cut some of them, as they planed to reduce the backlog around 2011 so i think Aus. is different in this regard in the sence of location, economy , culture, etc...
well all i can say is that we all should hope for the best to come our way.
