Hello there

I need your advice on applying through CEC.(Canadian economic class). i was an International student and received my Work Permit on 31 Dec, 2013. I have a job in occupation NOC 2232 from 16 DEC 2013 and will be completing one year experience on 31 DEC, 2014 (if experience is counted from date i receive Work permit).

I want to know that should i Apply for PR on last date of this year (also the last day for current CEC application process) or should apply with new system being launched in Jan 2015 called express entry. I am afraid to apply through this system. Also i went out of country for a month in February.

Thanks in advance for your advice

Hi there!

Did they give you work permit for a year or two? Experience is counted from the day you started to work not from the date you received your WP, so if you started to work on 16th of December 2013 you should be eligible to apply on 16th of Dec 2014.

In my opinion you should at least try to apply through CEC. We don't really know how Express Entry is going to look like but it is based on Australian immigration system which in my opinion is hard to get through.

i have Work Permit for 3 years till 31 Dec , 2016. I think I should be fine. But its kind of a risk.

Also for NOC 2232 currently they have received only 13/200 applications before the cap.

So what you think.

I think you don't have anything to lose. If they will refuse your CEC then you go through Express Entry or Nominee Program. Anyways even if they will pre-approve you for CEC you can still apply for Express Entry or Nominee Program. As I said you have nothing to lose beside money and a little bit of your time.
