Best to check on "sending passport" issue because how can you send passport across borders in south-asia, because Pakistan and India do not allow mailing of passports outside country.

This is something you should make sure about with CIC, either through your MP or via Canadian mission in New Delhi......

personally i think they should open their embassy in Kabul for Afghans for faster processing. It is a big hassle for Afghans to go through Pakistan, not to mention the hassle and costs.

At the last stage, the file goes back to original VO who ask for passport. This is similar to file who went to CPP-O ( Spouses, Parents ) where CPP-O finished all, and ask LVO like ND to ask for passport

This would be similar to these apps, and it's got nothing to do with ND not being able to check security stuff as this is not Indian office, it's still a Canadian officer asking for security ( its simply shared work load via GCMS )

I enjoy reading everybody's thread here as i gain more information each time i read

Actually I haven't personally got into contact with the MP or New Delhi's office yet, but my brother has couple weeks ago and he explained that the officer said that they will transfer all the Afghan Family Class Sponsorship applications to New Delhi from now on and the one's that were already in Islamabad have/will be trasnfered soon.

The officer give couple reasons for this shift: First reason is because the work load in Islamabad was too much and the other reason was that there were alot of fraud going on with Afghan applications in Islamabad and it happened to many afghans and my cousin is one of them. So that's why they had to do this change and I hope we get benefit from that InshaAllah!

February 4, 2014—Ottawa—Canada welcomed more than 16,000 new citizens in January – twice as many as in January 2013, Canada's Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander announced today.

Investments announced in Economic Action Plan 2013 have helped make the system more efficient and strengthened the integrity of Canada's citizenship program. The immense popularity of Canadian citizenship, though, has hampered efforts to tackle long processing times.

The government will take additional steps in the coming days to reduce backlogs while further strengthening the value of Canadian citizenship. As announced in the October 2013 Speech from the Throne, these measures – taken together – will form the first comprehensive reforms to the Citizenship Act in more than a generation.

Quick facts
In January 2013, 8,250 people obtained Canadian citizenship. In January 2014, more than 16,000 people became citizens at 244 citizenship ceremonies held across the country.
The citizenship ceremony is the last step before becoming a Canadian citizens and taking on the rights and responsibilities that come with citizenship.
The new Canadians welcomed into the Canadian family in January 2014 came from 190 different countries.
In 2013, 10,745 people were granted citizenship, on average, each month.
Since 2006, Canada has welcomed the highest sustained levels of immigration in Canadian history – an average of 257,000 newcomers each year. Accordingly, the demand for citizenship has increased by 30%.
Census data show 86% of eligible permanent residents become Canadian citizens.

Hi guys,

I filled Apps to sponsor my wife from Afghanistan Visa office which is in Charge of Afghanistan is CHC Islamabad Pakistan.

I filled Apps on Oct, 8th 2013
CIC Mississauga received it on the Oct, 9ths, 2013
App Processed and Approved on the Oct, 24th, 2013
Apps Forwarded to New Delhi India instead of Islamabad Pakistan on the 24th Of Oct, 2013

In my application I had told them that my wife is on her 4th week of pregnancy..

In the letter I received from CIC it states that " you have met the requirements for the eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded tot a visa office abroad fir further processing.

NEW DELHI High Commission of Canada

This Visa Office was selected based on your relative's home address and the requirements of the imigration and refugee protection Act. "

Now I was wondering if that have taken a special consideration for my case because of my wife's pregnancy or is Applications from Afghanistan is being processed thru Delhi India now? ..

If anyone else had a similar case please share it and let us know how it went... Also if Afghans can share their timeline like how long it took them took them to sponsor their spouses would be greatly appreciated..

I got really amazed when I saw this thread because I have similar case!

My wife lives in Afghanistan and I sent application to sponsor her on September 06, 2013. On September 24, 2013 i received a letter that I'm eligible to sponsor a family class member and that they sent my application abroad (Islamabad, Pakistan) for further processing.

On January 27, 2014, I received another similar letter like the previous one but instead it says that they have now sent my application to New Delhi, India. I got really shocked when I heard that news but at the same time I got happy when I check the processing times for New Delhi is only 12 months compare to Islamabad is 32 months!!!

So, can anyone please tell me if this case would follow the processing time for India or for Pakistan

It will be processed in India , my wife got passport request already... Pakistan is over loaded I spoke to CIC here in Canada..

Yes they requested for the passport 4 months ago a week right after when the application got transferred to NDVO.. ITs been around 4 months now since we have sent the passport, still nothing heard from them.. My application status is still the same ( Application Received...

Wow! thats really weird...I'm wondering how come they sent u the request for passport so fast after transferring your file to Delhi and now there is no updates for 4 months...Did u try contacting them? And is it just your wife case right?

Yes same thing happened with my husband's application.

I have someone in India as well so I don't know if I should change the mailing address to his address in India or just wait and see what happens.
By reading all these feedbacks from experienced people on this forum. They might possibly send the application back to Islamabad which will suck 

Hey what are u talking about?! If u have experienced such a case like transferring someones file to to back andforth visa offices then u should definetely talk about, otherwise dont just think.negative please!
Im pretty sure they will not send the files back.to Islamabad inshallah bcuz they have said it even in the letter that from now on this is your visa office and if u would like to.contact us emailthem...

They're not gonna send it back to Islamabad, they asked me for an address within Indian territory so they can send the passport with Visa back..I checked New Delhi 2013 forum ppl say it takes between 4-6 months before they start processing your application.. Once the status of your application is in process then it will go fast you will receive your visa within a month or two..

Just worried about the passport, they're not responding if they've received the passport or not,, (sucks) other than that it seems a normal process..


Yes Please don't make BS that they will send it back to Islamabad, unless you're 100 % sure..

salamoalicom for all bro and sis and congratulation for everybody in this threat coz we AFGS need our own room to discuss things regarding our cases . Now bro and sisters I read in this furam many pp got transferred their cases to ND and london and specially cases from 2013 and 14 I wanna share my opinion in this mattar as u guys knows before cic use to kept our files in Ottawa and than they sent it is mine was the same thing after I got approval from Mississauga I have been told that my file has been set to Islamabad and after 4-5 monts I caled cic call centre and the agent said to me wow ur so lucky coz ur file is processing in Ottawa and I was so happy coz Ottawa timeline is 15 monts and than after 9 monthes Crome the aprovale date I called cic again to know the status of my file the age told me that I'd file was in Ottawa and few days ago has been transfarred to isb lol I was surprised wow I said last time when I called the agent told me ur case is processing in Ottawa but what happened now? The agent told me no it is not true and it file was stored in Ottawa coz of too much backlog in Islamabad I was so mad and confused and than I found out that my file was collecting dust in Ottawa and nothing has been done and now it's been almost 14 months nothing done yet my advice is for u guys to don't keep ur expectations to high I was same as u guys but I learned a lot about this cic game which they playing with our lifes they keep our files for years and doing nothing the the burttom line is that cic don't like ppl from pak and afg anymore coz of unsucurity and stuff I think this is This is the sorest time of my life so plz guys wait and don't do too much inqueries coz they don't like it just wait and make dowa alha will help us inshallah that's all we can do brothers and sisters
