Hi everyone,

My friend's dad in Canada has his own shop, that sell all kinds of things. I think its a pawn shop. It is run by him and his wife. He would like another worker that he can trust as he has been robbed by other people before. So he has offered me to work in his shop. My background is in IT and I have no experience in shop keeping, would still be able to apply for AEO? Wouldn't immigration require me to have atleast some experience?

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
You can always apply for an AEO, doesn't mean that you would get it but I believe that the requirements to get an AEO are lower than to get an LMO. To use an AEO to apply for immigration, it has to be a skilled job though so he needs to pick a NOC code that classifies as skilled.

Acc to what I know, 2 steps to get AEO:
- get a Job Offer from an employer
- the employer files for 'Positive" Arranged Employement Opinion (AEO) from HRSDC (i.e. Service Canada).

3 things (all three at the employer level) are checked for positive AEO:
- that the Job Offer is genuine
- that the Employer is genuine
- the offerred Job profile matches your 'claimed' profile (i.e. NOC codes should match). (here whatever you claim as your skill will be taken as correct)

The skill that you claimed for AEO will be cross checked by CHC of the respective country where you apply for immigration.

This means, that you need to have the required experience & skill to match the job offered as mentioned in AEO.

Thanks very much for your replies.

So from what you have told me I cannot apply as a Shop Keeper (NOC 1472 Storekeepers and Parts Clerks) because I do not have the experience in it. The guy that can provide a job letter for this job said he will train me. I don't see whats the big deal. You think my application would get rejected even though I would have an AEO?
