Advise needed- urgent passport submission

Got passport request few minutes ago.
If my mm goes and hands over the passport tomorrow morning, how much time to get the visa?

Specific reason is flight already booked for 21 Dec 2015.

She is 7 hours away from the visa office in India.

Thought you had cancelled her tickets a few days ago LOL. Anyway. It's great she got the passport request

May I ask which visa office? From your previous post, I am guessing your mom-in-law is in the Chandigarh/Punjab region. It normally takes 7 days or so for the visa to be stamped.

Your MIL must carry all the relevant documents, fees, etc and submit it in person at the CVAC/VFS. She can put in a special request at the CVAC + send a CSE to consider expedited stamping by submitting copies of the flight tickets

Travel agent said same cancellation charges upto 3 hours prior to flight departure time. So I thought we can wait then so I emailed him back to hold on.

You got it absolutely right. She is close to that city visa office.

Another thing- can somebody else deposit her passport on her behalf such as my father in law/her husband.

Your father-in-law can submit her passport at the VFS office. He must carry an Authorization Letter from your mom-in-law + VAC consent form + service fees + proof of identification + flight ticket proofs, etc

You're cutting it too close. December 21 is just round the corner.... and the visa office and CVAC do not work on weekends.


I suggest:
a. Do send a CSE immediately requesting for expedited stamping with flight ticket proofs
b. Have your mom-in-law prepare a letter enclosed with the passport requesting expedited stamping + include copies of flight tickets
c. Do NOT opt for the processed passport to be couriered home by Blue Dart Couriers. You may/may not get it back by Monday.
d. Your father-in-law can collect the passport with visa, in person, on Friday around 4pm

Hi Bryanna. I am in a similar situation. Sent my passport by courier to CPC Ottawa for TRV stamping and need it back urgently. Can you please explain the CSE request for expedited stamping and if I can request that as well? Thanks!!!
