Hello all,

Just wanted a bit of advice about my situation. I would like to move to canada, either Montreal or Toronto. I have completed the assessments and seem to be fine points wise. I was wondering what the best way is to get a visa where I could have the option of working in either city. If I go for the Quebec visa will I be able to work anywhere else? The reason I am leaning towards a regular skilled worker visa is that the Quebec Visa needs an application both to Quebec then to Canada. This will take much longer wont it? I would like to leave in the next six months if possible. Is there anyway I could apply for the regular visa, then while working in Toronto apply to Quebec and maybe move there after?
Thanks!
James

1. You should apply Federally only then, once you land anywhere but Quebec, you can then move to Quebec. You will not be given some of the perks for Quebec selected applicants. If you apply to Quebec, you are expected to make an effort to reside permanently there, if you don't Quebec can rescind your CSQ and then CIC will take action.
2. You obviously have not read the processing times for skilled worker. I suggest you look at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/menu-perm.asp You are looking at years of wait, unless you have an approved Arranged Employment Option.

Thanks!
The waiting time for federal says 30 to 41 months, however the quebec one says 6 to 12 months! Is this just the waiting time for the csq then an application must be made on the federal level? Or is this for everything?

1. It is the Quebec processing time.
2. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02b-skilled-que.asp for the Federal Processing times for Quebec.

If I got a job offer, would it mean they have to sponsor me, or would I just have to get a temporary work permit in London by showing them the offer? It says this only takes a week or so. If I got this, could I then apply for permanent residence while in Canada working? Is it the same for Quebec? I really would like to leave in febuary sometime so if it means trying to get a permanent job as opposed to freelancing(which I do now) that would be a good solution for me.
Thanks!
