So my husband and I send our outland application to CIC and they received it on March 28....they haven't responded but through the forum we are aware that CIC is a bit behind in the applications... I returned to the states two weeks ago... it was very hard for me and my husband to say goodbye...I normally go back to visit him in august for two months...but considering that our application might be done between the months of October and November..we were thinking that maybe I could just wait and go in September and stay for the rest of the process... we know that legally I can't stay in Canada...but then it would only be a month or two away..and its been done before by others...we figure we could just go to cross the rainbow bridge when the the process is over and come back in to land..

Is there any advice or suggests anyone could give us?

What about when they request my passport? or if they request my passport? some people on the forum said that sometimes they don't for US and Canadian couples?

Will I have to change my address on the CIC so they can send my husband all the information or letters...instead of sending things to my US address?

I have flown to Canada on a one-way ticket before..lucky I have never had problems, but since they are aware of my application now..will that cause trouble?

I plan on..takings one carry-on, my laptop bag..and an extra suitcase (which I normally do)...just clothes..a few jewelry..shoes..electronics..nothing else..if I do go in September..can I ship things later? or do I need a B4 form later? how is it different from landing normally?

Any tips or advice would be most helpful...

Now it's been more than a year since my American husband got his PR, so I am unsure if things changed.
Depending on your financial status, and if he can support you - you can "visit" him in Canada for up to 6 months. When you are getting close to the end of that 6 months, you can apply for an extension (if you don't have your PR yet at that point). You won't be able to work, though. That's what my husband did, I was able to support him while he stayed here. They did not request his physical passport, just a photocopy of it.
I would change your address if you plan to stay through until the end - unless you have someone at your US address who can forward things. We set my husband's home address to his place in Phoenix, but his mailing address to mine in Canada.
When you come to visit him, you don't want it to make it look like you are MOVING, so the less the better. You can always go back when you get your PR, and bring your stuff with you, and then finalize your application at the border.

99.9% of the time they will ask for a COPY of your passport. I can't think of any American who had to mail in their physical passport since they started accepting copies.

You can update your address on e-cas and then call and confirm the change went through. If you do have someone who can check your mail for you in the US, maybe you want to leave it alone. Sometimes people have issues with address updates with CIC.

The one-way ticket may be a small issue. Just explain your situation and I'm pretty sure you'll be fine. Others have come up with a one-way and did not have many problems. Just have a copy of sponsor approval letter and other proofs.

When you land, you need a B4 with a list of stuff you are bring with you at the time and any stuff you will ship later. You don't need to list stuff you bring brought up in September and left in Canada.
