Hey all,

I am Canadian living in the US. We are hopeful to hear a yes to my husbands permanent residency sooner then later (all fingers crossed!!). We have applied for my daughters Canadian certificate which could take 3 more months until we hear back. If we want to move before then what do we need to do so she can cross the border if we do not have that yet?

Thank you!

Of what country are your husband and daughter citizens?

Since US citizens don't require a visa to visit Canada, I believe you should be able to bring her as a visitor with just her passport, though it is a good idea to travel with her birth certificate as well, in case anyone asks for it. If you are traveling without her other parent, you'll need to bring a copy of her birth certificate and also a letter of authorization signed by the other parent. Here's a link to Canada's requirements for minor children traveling to Canada: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...-canada/minor-children-travelling-canada.html The only thing I'm not sure about is whether she would qualify as a visitor since you intend to stay once she receives her certificate.

The issue is the moving. Your husband can't move until he gets his PR. He can visit but moving your stuff could become an issue.
