Advice passport/study permit lost (special case)

Hi guys,
I’m a French student studying in Montreal. Let me explain my situation.
I’ve lost my passport and the study permit in it in May, right before going back to France for the summer. I was able to leave Canada with a special letter from the French embassy.
Other than that, both my CAQ and study permit (the lost one) are expiring on the 31st of August 2014.
As of today, I have a new passport and a renewed CAQ as well. The only paper missing is the study permit and I plan to get back to Canada on the 25th of August. Therefore 6 days before the expiration of my lost study permit.

What would you recommend?
Should I file for a renewal now? Would I get it in time in that case? Can I get in the country with a photocopy of the lost study permit? Im sure they have my file on their database.

Any recommendation would help!

I will suggest u have sworn affidavit & police report for the lost item with u if u must try to enter with a copy. To me I will use a copy for the following rasons:
1. They have ur information in their data
2. You have ur pp as valid means of ur identifcation as the owner of lost sp
3. You have renew ur CAQ
With this u shld be allowed in to process another one.
