advice on sponsorship

Question , i am planning to apply for a sponsorship for my spouse, she is from Libya... right now is in the process of getting a new passport, the government in libya are switching there old passports to new. but its been a headache every time she goes in for the picture the system is down.. her current passport expires in March 2018 but she cant renew the old one, will only get a new one after and the delay no body knows how long it will be..

do you guys recommend that i apply without a passport for her to speed it up ?
or do i apply with the one she has ? that expires in march and that can never be renewed.
or do i just wait till she gets the new passport and apply with right one and the new one to avoid any delays ??

It takes several months to complete the sponsorship process, so the earlier you start the sponsorship process the better.

Your spouse does not need to have a valid passport when you submit the application.

However, your spouse must have a valid passport to travel to Canada.

You could either apply without the current passport and just sent them the renewed passport later OR apply with her current passport and include a note with the application that she will send the renewed passport in a few months time.

Note: Although you do not need to have a valid passport or travel document when you submit your application, you must have a valid travel document or passport to be able to travel to Canada and to be admitted for permanent residence.
You will need to demonstrate that you hold an acceptable travel document or passport before we can finalize your application.

Most recently issued passport or travel document for you,
her current passport the old libyan one if i use that and show it expires in march i ll be okay, by the time she gets the new one, but the problem will be the english name spelling,
you see the old libyan passport has thenspelling to her name different from her bithcard our marriage contract and HER NEW PASSPORT, just because the old libyan passports were hand written by pen on the passport.

what do you guys think? should wait for the new one ? or just apply with the old one and send photocopys of the different spelling.

You can apply. Closer to the approval time you will be asked to submit a valid passport.

You do not need to submit her passport when you submit the application.

So you could go ahead to submit the sponsorship application without her passport.

But ensure her passport is renewed later because they will ask for it as at the time of PR visa issuance.

When you have the new passport, you could then send them the new passport.

Will advice you apply early and don't wait until you complete renewing her passport, processing takes some time.

So apply , and provide no photocopy’s of any recent passport, even tho she travels from Libya to Egypt Turkey regularly? Sorry if im not understanding that will show on the other forum
