Hi all,

thank you for all the support that u were giving me direct or indirect. i got the PPR last week and i applied for my resignation job but my sponsor as my contract shows i have to give a time frame of three months after the notice of resignation till they bring some one in my place, and the Embassy told me to submit every thing with my residence cancelled with in 30 days. secondly the HR told me if i cancelled my visa the allowed period is only 7 Days to stay in the country and the Emabssy mentioned my visa process it will take 10 working days so i am worried i will loose this chance if they didn't wave the residence cancellation and give me the visa then after my notice period finished to leave the country for good.

pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase advice

not sure if I understand what you're saying exactly... my understanding is you are required to give 3 months notice at work before you leave and you are now needing to send your passport in for your PR visa??

The way it works where I am, when you leave your job you have to submit your permit for cancellation within about a week of your last day of work and you then have 30 days in which to leave the country. The key though is that you do not (and should not) submit our permit until you complete your notice period at work. You only submit it when you finish working.

So- unless I'm misunderstanding your question - you need to send in your passport to get your PR visa now. And then after your last day of work you need to submit your permit in the country you're in now and then you can leave any time before you PR visa expires (date should be in the PPR letter you received).

Hope that helps - if not please clarify your situation.

thank you for yor reply , my question was is it possible to get the visa with out cancelling my resident visa since the notice period is 3 months and not yet arrived and the embassy they required a cancelled PR to issue my visa other wise my application will be cancelled if i didn't submit the above with in 30 days . and the visa will expire on 2/2/2011.

I think I understand your question but unforunately I don't know the rules there. However, there is no requirement from Canada's side that would force you to cancel your residence permit in the country you are currently in before you can receive your PR visa for Canada. These matters are handled by different places: for your Canadian PR visa you must submit your passport to the Canadian High Commission responsible for your application. To cancel your local residence permit, usually it needs to be submited to your employer (or to labor department or some local authority).

SO I don't know 100% the situation where you are but I don't see any reason why you can't submit your passport to the Canadian visa office to recieve your PR visa stamp and then, when you are finsihed working you can cancel your local residence permit. (here you don't even have to submit it, you can just leave within the time allowed but I'm sure that changes from place to place).

hello Abumawada,

i'm living in UAE and had a working visa cancelled already; once my visa was canceled i had 30 days to leave the country; r u sure it's 7 days for u? maybe they changed the rules since it happened to me they tend to do that a lot...better call Ministry of Labour to find out yourself for sure; if it's indeed 7 days then u could also overstay until u get ur PR for Canada; in the airport u'll pay the overstaying period, i think 100Dhs/day; it's a lot but it's worth it and u'll never come to UAE again!!!!!!!!!!

also, can u please tell me is it a Canadian government requirement or a UAE requirement to have ur UAE visa canceled before u get the PR visa? i'm a Canadian citizen and want to sponsor my partner from UAE Abu Dhabi embassy that's why i am asking; if they ask that it would be a problem for us; also, how long did it take for ur application to be processed and was it only the Abu-Dhabi visa office which processed ur file or did u transfer it somewhere else?

hope my answer helps and thank u for ur time to answer me also; good luck!

Hi missmini,

first of all thank you for your reply. i am staying in qatar and my wife is in canada she sponsored me and the process almost took 9 months i sent my application on march 17 . i confirmed this from the ministry of labour from the cancellation day only 7 days it allowed and if you overstay you will be in black list and you will never visit Qatar as you said.

so is it possible to waive the cacellation of the RP in qatar till i get the VISA sticker on my passport finish my notice period cancel on the same day and fly to reunite with my adorable family in CANADA.

hi Abumawada,

thanks soo much for ur fast reply and feedback; it's good to know that some applications r sponsored faster than the average:) i would say congratulations but i know u r confused right now; really i don't know the Qatar rules, i know a little the UAE rules; i'm sorry to hear that they do that :( try also to confirm again with the Abu Dhabi embassy (explaining ur deadlock situation) and the Ministry of Labor from Qatar (maybe they have a waiver on their side); i'm sure u will find a way to get ur PR for Canada sooon, u r soo close now, i'm just starting :( in worst case scenario if ur Qatar visa gets cancelled and then u go to ur home country to get ur PR for Canada there would it be possible; or u'll travel to UAE as a tourist and get it in person and then go to Canada directly; hope it won't reach this point it's risky; plus remember that ur PR visa for Canada does not have an expiration date from my knowledge! it expires when ur medical exam expired!! so u do have to enter Canada with ur PR visa before ur medical exam expired

best of luck!!
