I have just received my visa to work in Canada, this will be my first entry in the country. I am planning to go back to the Philippines first before entering Canada. There are friends who advice me to go straight to Canada because I might have difficulties entering the country if I will be coming from the Philippines..

My questions, especially for the Filipinos who experienced this:

1. Is it true that I need to go straight to Canada from Israel? Why or why not?
2. If not, and if I decide to visit my family in the Philippines first, what are the difficulties I will meet?
3. What are the procedures I need to go through in the Philippines before entering Canada?

I hope you guys can give me advice..I am wanting so much to take vacation and to see my family in the Philippines..Thanks a lot....

Technically there shouldn't be any dificulty to enter Canada as long as you have all the legal documentation with you. And I understand you already have your Temporary Resident visa. There is no issue with the country where you initiate your first trip to arrive here. As you arrive here you will go through an Immigration officer and they will generate the work permit for you and you are on your way!

Canada doesn't care where you arrive from. Feel free to visit your family first.

Except that POLO and POEA in the Philippines may throw a spanner in the works when s/he leaves the Philippines.

"Although your future employer would take care of your requirements (plane ticket, work visa, etc.), you must still have certain documents processed at POEA (Philippine Overseas Employment Administration).

The requirements are the following: passport, work visa or work permit, employment contract verified or authenticated by the Philippine embassy or Philippine consulate in the country of your destination. You are also required to undergo a medical examination by a DOH-accredited clinic or hospital and a pre-departure orientation seminar (PDOS). "
