If your "work unofficially" means working without a Work permit, that could be ground for declining PR if CIC finds out.

There is a bridging open work permit. It's for people who had an expiring work permit and have an active PR application (meaning received AOR). So they can continue to work after the original work permit is expired while waiting for PR decision.
