My spouse and I are due to travel to Costa Rica in 3 weeks for his best friend's wedding. This was planned a year ago and unfortunately by chance we only just realized his PR card is expiring in a few days. We have submitted the PR renewal on an urgent basis included our paid-in-full travel documents, it was received on March 15 and we are leaving on April 9. Does anyone know if we'd have a good chance in getting the card on time? Just read another post that someone received their card in a matter of few days but I don't want to have false hope. We were told many times by CIC and MP's office that it's not likely we can get the card in time

Getting a travel document aboard won't work for us as we are only travelling for a week and process takes 3 weeks woth .i rushes allowed. I was thinking may be we can buy a one-way ticket to buffalo, ny and travel home by car... but is that too dangeous? Would US even let us land in buffalo?

Any advice is appreciated as I'm very nervous about this. This was a very expensive trip and my spouse would be devastated if he misses his best friend's wedding. He also had sent in his citizenship app last year and I'm guessing a refusal of entry would be bad news at this point?

Anyone has any previous experience they could share?

Sorry I probably just worried too much. Thanks!
