I sent my PR application October 29th and still have not heard from them! Three different calls to CIC with three different answers. One saying it could take 18months for them to even look at the visa!
Anyone else in the same boat?? Or advice on how toget a real answer.

Did you apply inland or outland?

OP applied inland - but is currently not in Canada (left Canada to visit family).

That is probably the reason why. Applying inland takes twice as long as Outland applications

I applied from within Canada.

An inland application is likely going to take roughly 2-3 full YEARS before being completed. If you haven't yet received an AOR, that also is not uncommon. They don't always send them out consistently. Calling them to get an answer isn't going to get you an answer either. All you can do is wait.

If there is a problem, they will let you know, but you can assume you'll be waiting to know about it for a while now. Honestly, applying inland was probably a very bad choice on your part due to the time it takes to process these applications....

I agree. If you applied Outland it would of taken 17 months or less depending on your visa office. Like Alurra71 said , just sit back and let the waiting game begin. We all are going through the same thing, or have gone through the same.

yes, the call centre is useless. They have given the wrong information on several occasions. Also, each time, you get someone different.

Hi , thanks for the info. Applying outland was actually longer on the processing times. I'm from the UK and London was 29 months and Canada 26. I also wanted to get the open work permit they are offering with couples applying as common-law, which I can't get if I apply outlnad. I guess its just waiting game and fingers crossed its all OK. Thanks again

If you're from the UK and you had applied outland you would have been done in well under a year. The 29 months processing time is for applications that London took on from Islamabad. UK nationals are processed much faster.

Seriously?? How do you know that? It's so unclear on the website. Do you think it's a good idea to withdraw and do it again from outside Canada. I definetly qualify.

Browsing here before I chose an option was how I found out that my application likely wouldn't be processing in LA, which the website said would take over 2 years.

It's definitely an option for you to withdraw your application and reapply outland.

i definitely empathize with being scared of that 29 month time frame.. but from receiving our outland application to having COPR in hand, it took 7 months and 5 days. if you take a look at the London outbound spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kYJ0Xo_jHLeArkCVeicZyqIE8YLpnZqVJlFrnpmKMx0/edit#gid=291708529) you'll see my application wasn't a fluke, either. if withdrawing and reapplying is an option for you, i'd consider it. if the OWP is an essential part of your plan, just sit tight :)

Thanks so much for the info. Is spousal the same as common-law? I'm really considering re applying but I still have heard nothing and they have not started the process for me to withdraw it :-\

You would only know that information by reading forums such as this one. Unfortunately CIC is completely dysfunctional when it comes to how they display this type of info on their website. The outland processing times they post are essentially useless.

Yes it makes lots of sense for you to cancel your inland app and apply outland instead. Especially if you're currently outside Canada or intend to spend time outside Canada during the next 2 years, you may find your inland app being rejected due to this anyways.
