PGP 2019 applicant here. I submitted my application on April 29, 2019. Two years in, still have no idea how my application is going.

My parents are 82 and 83 respectively, living alone in my home country with no one to take care of them. All of their kids (me and 2 other sons) are living in Canada.

Our case transferred to H&C last year due to my dad (PA) medical inadmissible, we responded to PFL in Oct. 2020 and it's 6 months. No feedback.

Every time I call my mom, she cries over the phone asking how long the application is going to take, asking when she can come to Canada. I have no answer for her.

She can barely walk now, but still has to cook, do groceries, and wash clothes for my dad. And they refuse care taker .....

With the travel restriction and my current situation in Canada, really I couldn't go back to my home country to take care of them.

So I'm asking, is there anything I could do to expedite my application?

I know PGP is a waiting game now, but my parents, they can't wait no more...

Any advice is appreciated.

I'm sorry for your situation. This must be very stressful for both you and your parents.

There is unfortunately no way to expedite an application. Since there has been a PFL letter issued and you've requested consideration under H&C, it's also very hard to say how much longer your parents will be waiting for an answer.

Here are the suggestions I would have:
- Have you ordered GCMS notes lately? This might give you an indication of where things stand and whether the application is headed towards approval or not after the PFL response.
- Is there any way you can convince your mother to accept a caregiver into her home? This would be the best way to provide at least some help immediately.
- If getting a caregiver to help your parents in your home country really isn't an option, would your employer allow you to work remotely or alternatively take a leave of absence? I know that one or both of these things often aren't possible. If not you, are one of your brothers able to take a leave of absence or work remotely to return to your home country to provide support?

Good luck - this is a tough situation.

Unfortunately I do not think there is anything you can do at this point, and I really hope that your application will be accepted despite the medical inadmissibility.

I would recommend to order GCMS notes to get more information as to where in the process is your application as well as what they say about it.

I believe you will need to determine what can be done in the meantime in your home country to provide support (caregiver temporarily, working from your home country while taking care of them despite the COVID issue, having one of your brothers work from your home country (hopefully it is possible for one of you 3)....

It also really depends on why he is medically inadmissible and what your argument are for why he isn't. I hope you have been honest with your parents that you were essentially denied but were given a chance to prove that he isn't medically inadmissible. Maybe they would be more willing to accept a caregiver/cook/cleaner if they realize thy may not be able to come to Canada.

Since your parents are the applicants for the PGP2019, they should be able apply to visit Canada as super visa holders. As visitors of Canada, they could have being looked after by you and your siblings. Why you didn't apply for their super visa? Staying in Canada can be extended.

Thank you for the reply.

1. Yes I have ordered GCMS notes many times. Not many progress so far. Still waiting on GCMS notes I ordered in March

2. Unfortunately no, I've tried many times, They refuse help from anyone... I have friends and other family members who offer to help, they don't like it. They only want their children to take care of them.

3. I am full-time work and full-time study, and the only breadwinner for my family.

One brother does not talk to only of us for years, the other brother is mom and dad's favorite, but he does everything he can to prevent parents to come to Canada.

My situation does not allow me to apply for visitors, if I could, I would.

My brothers who have the ability to apply, do not want my parents in Canada. Plus earlier, my parents did not want to come on visitor visa.

They always said they would come only if they got PR.

Now with my dad's medical inadmissibility, I doubt they will be granted a visitor visa, since a visa needs medical exam too

That's a difficult situation. Hopefully the GCMS notes you ordered in March will give you some insights.

Unfortunately there's no way to expedite.

Good luck and hope you have an answer soon.

Agree with canuck78. Your panents need to know that the chance that they can come to Canada is very LOW. The application had been basically refused and you are just trying the fight back under H&C.
So may be they will eventually accept help from others and accept caretaker. Ask her if she wants you to quit your job to go to Indian and breakup your family. (no breadwinner) Let your spouse and kids live on the street.

Even if they can come to Canada, there could be situation that they may need caretaker or even go to a carehome if they need a lot of medical care that a home based caretaker is not possible. It's A LOT more expensive if you need to hire any medical help in Canada if they actually move here. That is NOT covered by the government.

He would still need to pass the medical.

Is your other brother in India. If so there will be the argument that he can care for them. Without knowing his medical history and the costs associated it is impossible for anyone to guess whether you have a chance of beating the procedural fairness letter. For example if he is on dialysis there would be minimal chances but in other situation there may be a better chance.
