Advice Needed for Tourist VISA.

I've spent a while going through the websites and the forum, but still have a few questions that need answering.

I am a British Citizen by birth holding a British Passport. (Currently getting a renewal should be with me in a few days.)
My wife is a Pakistani citizen, in the UK on a Spouse VISA. So will need a Canadian VISA.
We plan to go on a 1 week holiday Vancouver in May/June this year.

Am I required to sign a waiver or anything online to let the Canadian immigration authorities know I will be visiting the country? A colleague had to do this to go to the USA.

My wife is a housewife, no jobs. What documents am I required to send with her application? I'm guessing my bank statements and some pay slips will be needed. Is 3 months sufficient?

Do I need to submit a copy of my passport with her application?

Are there any other docs other than my bank statements which I would need to submit with her application?

Since your wife would be the visa applicant, she would need to provide her bank statements and other proof of assets. Visa officers probably would not consider your proof of income.

Is the spouse visa some sort of permanent or temporary permit to stay? it might be difficult if it is a temporary permit to stay in the UK as the VO might not regard the UK as her country of permanent residence.

since she will be the visa applicant, you can get an affidavit of financial support indicating you are financially responsible for her and the trip but you need to prove you are married i.e marriage certificate etc and i would strongly recommend an online application versus paper based

Hi,

1. Three months worth of pay stubs is sufficient. If you have a letter of verification of income from your employer, include that as well.

2. Be sure to include a letter stating you will be the one sustaining her financially throughout her stay in Canada as a visitor.

3. If your wife's application form states that she is married, be sure to include a scanned copy of your marriage certificate.

4. If she can apply online, then I would recommend her to do via online rather than paper. Sometimes snail mail can be lost somewhere. You wouldn't know!

Thanks for the responses. It's given me a good idea of what to do. I had planned all of my material in a way to do a paper application, hadn't considered the online method at all. My wife needs to do give her biometrics, that's why I was going to hand in an application at the VAC.

If I do an online application is it a case of scanning the documents and attaching them?

Twiggy, her current country of residence is the UK, even if that is not her nationality so on the form I'm guessing she would be classed as a "foreign national".

1. I'll see if I can get a letter from my employer, shouldn't be a problem as I have got them to do one in the past.

2. I've just put together a letter covering the main details, is it enough for me to sign it or would I need some solicitor or council officer to attest it?

4. Just reading through the online process. But based on your comment, I'm guessing we can scan the documents and send them online. We'd still need to go to the VAC for the biometrics though.

It is enough for you to sign it. Normally visitor visa is a tad more lenient than the permanent residency one.

The letter should include the following information:

1. Your declaration you will support your wife financially throughout her stay in Canada, and how much will you be supplying her and how.
2. Your signature
3. Your full name and date of birth (after the sign off), your contact number and email.
4. Your wife's full name (as on the travel document), and her passport number, and date of birth
5. What job you are at, and the number of guaranteed hours, and salary or hourly rate.
6. Include 3 months worth of pay stubs, and an income verification.

I would personally prefer online. It's faster. Yes. You scan the documents. Financial support statement, when you scan, complie them into one PDF file. Same as for the other documents if there are a lot of separated pages.

Also, make sure to check the document checklist for paper submission as well. So you know what information is to be included.

Be as thorough as possible. When she come to Canada, ask her to bring proof of funds, return ticket (if any), and the other relevant information so the CBSA won't have a reason to nail her.

The online process is much clearer, just rattling through most of it, rather tedious, thankfully I had already completed the TRV form and the family one.

Do I need to supply a copy of my passport at all for identity?

Don't think it's needed. Don't give the visa officer a situation of "information overload". Haha.

Your signature and the statement is good enough. Well the online version tells you what you really really need to include. But there are some stuffs that are kind of important as well but not listed as apparent. Make sure you click the ? icon and check if you have all those documents they are asking for. Include a copy of your marriage certificate to show that she's your wife too.

We gave the biometrics in the London VAC last Friday, the biometrics have been received by the VISA Office.

Applicant is Pakistani National, living in the UK on a spouse visa.

My question is which VISA office will process the application, is it the London one or will this be passed on to another office. ie. Islamabad to process?

This is of obvious concern to me cause there's a huge difference in the processing times for the two VISA Offices.

Edit:

I think I may have answered my own question.

British citizens wouldn't need to apply and have their VISA applications sent to the London office, they just need need a British Passport and can go to Canada without a TRV.

So the only TRV applications handled at the London VISA office have got to be for foreign nationals in the country. If that is the case, then hopefully not a long wait.

I'm actually not too bothered about the VISA being approved/rejected, but it's more the time. I really need a holiday, and being process in London, I should get a reply fairly swiftly.

I am applying for my trv to visit my husband in Canada. My spousal immigration is still under process.
To show my funds in Pakistan,I am showing a joint account owned by me and my mother. This account has a handsome sum of money.

My question is : is it ok to show this account or should I show an account which is owned solely by me? The reason I want to show the joint account is cz it has a good amount of money
