Ads problem

We don’t pay to benefit from this forum. The law firm is just trying to offset a few of their costs to run the website. Sure this site is still a cost to them even with the ads.

Well I understand your point, but every 4 threads a ads is there can be a bit distracting

I have no dispute and no issue with the sponsor using ads to offsite costs, or even to make money.

But users also can have opinions on the ads and how painful and distracting they are. Most of the internet has ads and so people have a basis of comparison.

Whatever change they made, the new ad formats are large, jarring, and very much in the way. On the devices I use, the pages jump around and make disco-dance type flashing moves and it is EXTREMELY irritating - and also makes the site harder to use, particularly on smaller devices.

Sure, it's free and all that. But it's also in their interest to know that whatever service they've switched to is harming the experience for users and some might go to the trouble of turning on ad blockers and/or using the site less.

Another thing for individuals to have a beef about .
It’s a FREE site folks for immigration advice. If the ads are too much of a issue , you’re independently wealthy , go hire a immigration lawyer every time you have a question regarding immigration .
Voila. Problem solved.
If not, ignore the ads

Oh, give me a break. Users can certainly complain that the change to the ads system makes using it much worse. No-one's suggesting the bastille be stormed and the aristocracy's heads lopped off.

The standard "don't like it, you can shoot yourself in the head, dead people don't complain" response is frankly stupid.

As noted: it's not so much the presence of the ads but that the presentation of them actively interferes with using it. Think of if it were some other change, like they switched to using some illegible joke font like comic sans - is the response still "hey, it's free, you should shut up?". No, it's legitimate to comment that this change made things worse; yes, they can still choose their own font (or ad system), and yes, users can still comment.

And yes, the sponsors can ignore the complaints if they wish. (And once again, thanks to them for providing the forum - slightly less high marks for the recent change in ads, which I suspect is due to whatever third-party ad system is being used, and not the forum sponsor)

Web hosting, site administration and maintenance have a price tag. Businesses need to turn a profit.

Don't mind the fact there are ads. Do mind the fact that they are very badly executed and intrusive.
 
I use DuckDuckGo browser on my mobile devices and never see an ad, if ads get in the way of you using the site, try switching your browser to DuckDuckGo. It comes with a side of more privacy and security :)

The site will have been tested before executing. The number of ads may be down to how greedy the owner is. You don't need an advert after each post.
Yes, it's overkill. Maybe they will realize and make changes soon.
 
This is the worst of its kind where anyone feels ok to complain about anything they got for free, which in this case is not just anything but the most valuable forum on the entire internet for Canada Immigration Aspirants.

Seriously?

The forum owners deserve million thanks.
