Hello,

I arrived in Canada 10 months ago, after obtaining PR status. I still have citizenship from my country of birth. I am thinking about adopting my orphaned nephew and help him to move here.

As I said, I still have my citizenship from my home country. Is it possible for me to adopt him under my country's rules and complete all formalities there? I am thinking that it should be easier to adopt him this way.

After that, I would sponsor him easily to Canada as my child. We would skip all "intercountry adoption" hassles this way.

I could be completely wrong on this so please feel free to share any experience or knowledge you may have.

thanks!!
