Hi guys, I was planning to apply for Winter or Fall 2021, however, due to coronavirus I am not sure what is the situation. Whether I will be able to apply or if I am selected will I get Visa or not.

I am creating this forum for all of us to share our collective knowledge of the process and the NEWS we get. Please share your experiences and NEWs over here so that everyone can at least get an Idea and can plan accordingly.

I think you should apply. I'm considering it too though. Reasons being, if I apply and get accepted and begin studies online, assuming there is still a lockdown due to coronavirus, it might increase my visa chances when things finally reopen. This might just be me tripping but it's also an idea. What do you think?

sure, if you don't care about your money in case your visa gets rejected. nevertheless, i don't think you're even allowed/ encouraged to enroll in online classes without a valid study permit, besides i don't think it'll increase your visa chances in any way, good luck!

What @Geeked meant is, this a good opportunity to secure a Student Visa for a weaker case as there could be a possibility that CIC may lower their bars while admitting students for Fall 20 term, the reason could be that many international students are going to defer their admission to the next year 2021. Especially those students who have just completed their Bachelor's or have exp of 1-2 years may drop this year due to several reasons:
(1) Parents worry and not sending their child to unknown territory due to COVID-19,
(2) Delay in securing Bank loan
(3) IELTS center being closed, this is still a mandatory submission to get confirmed admission letter to universities (Many have now switched to Duolingo but students applying under SDS will still need IELTS at some point of time)
(4) Challenge to send the transcripts to university before the start of the program as international courier services are still not operational.
(5) Even longer time now to get a visa under non-SDS

Since the footfall is going to be less, anyone crossing the 1st four above barriers will in a decent position
NOTE: The above points are only assumptions.

Hey guys so I got admission for January 2021 and contemplating on switching to September 2020 and studying online as this would be more convenient. However, I would like to know if the cost of living of $10,000 would decrease since I would be studying in my home country for one semester.

It may not increase your chances but colleges are accepting duolingo exams, etc., inadvertently lowering their standards. However, after the whole situtation is over, it may be more competitive to secure given that everyone else will be trying to as well. I expect major delays in visa processing after the lockdown is lifted

Your best chance will be now, after covid the bar will begin to go high. Eg during 2007, 2008 economy melt down in Canada, visa was almost the easiest thing to get then, but as soon as they began to recover, the bar was raised

Hi thanks for getting back. I've got Letter of acceptance for Jan 2021 session. Are you suggesting to apply for that visa now? Or did you mean to get admission and visa for fall 2020 session?

Think the ease was due to Canadian schools starting actively recruiting students to come to Canada (even the small town colleges) and Canada wasn’t as attractive a country at that point.
