Hi All,

I'm new in this forum and my first time to chat in this type. I am writing a cover letter to my immigration officer and I knew his name. We had been exchanging communications through email where I addressed him by name as simply "Dear John" for example. I was required to submit additional documents with covering letter. Can I address him by his full name or using only "Dear Sir" in the covering letter? How should be the best way? :'(

Thanks guys..

Dear Sir is OK, and so is Dear Mr X. Dear John is less formal but probably not offend.
