I recently submitted my PR application and included some proof of relationship such as pictures and Skype/FB messages and recently I received an email that I need to provide more proof of relationship to my spouse. I do not have any of the joint bank statements etc. Is there any other thing I can send them instead?

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents:

- Additional proof of relationship: document proving your ongoing relationship with your sponsor . This may include but is not limited to: joint bank account statements; insurance policies, wills, or anything naming your spouse as beneficiary.

Just think to yourself what proof do you have that you two are a couple? I take it if you do not have a joint bank account then you probably have not named each other as beneficiaries?

If you have lived together since you applied, and both of your names are on the lease/mortgage agreement then send that. If for whatever reason you do not have a lease (such as living with friends or family) then have whoever lets you both stay there write a letter saying that you both live together.

Bills. A bill in your name and another bill in your partner's name, sent to the same address counts.

Pictures of recent trips, any flight confirmations, showing that you traveled to the same place, sat beside each other on the plane, etc.

Basically gather as much information and documents as you can, try and send enough that would convince a stranger that you are a couple.

Hi there,

You need to be very careful. It seems like they're doubting your relationship to be legit that is why they are requesting more proofs. It is not a good sign because if you don't provide more proofs they might set your application in the interview queue and it might take 3 to 6 months depending on how many files might be ahead of your file. It is time consuming and a lot of stress. If I were you I would have ordered GCMS Notes right now while you are collecting proofs of genuine relationship and you may see the comments of the officer who is working on your application. I will try to name what we sent as proofs.

We made a big envelop only for proofs.

1. Receipts of all the gifts we bought for each other and DHL receipts showing when we sent gifts to each other.
2. He visited me 3 times ( we added all the boarding passes and Itineraries, passport dates stamps)
3. Pictures at the airport for all the 3 times he flew where I live), Pictures at the airport every time he returns to Canada.
4. 15 pictures of our white wedding, 15 Civil wedding, 30 pictures of both families, 10 Restaurant pictures , 10 Honeymoon pics,
5. 20 pages of Facebook chat logs, 20 pages of WhatsApp Logs, 20 pages of BBM chat logs, 30 Emails, 20 Cellphones' bills showing time we spent, dates and times,
6. our new born baby pictures, birth certificate,
7. 10 Reference letters from both families, and our friends and 5 workplace letters.
8. we wrote a 10 pages Story of how we met, who we are, and where we will be in the future if we happen to stay together.
9. Western Union money receipts showing how much he usually send me and how many times
10. Receipts from all the hotels we stay in when he is in the country, those receipts show his name and mine.

we did not sent a joint bank account, or insurance, neither a will but they accepted all the proofs we sent as we speak I am waiting for PPR for me and my son. Hopefully this helps.

Yes emails, fb msg, instagram posts or even skype is good for proof. My friend has done the same :)

Yes.

message/chat logs can be used as proof but note that CIC considers it "low priority" proof. They prefer something stronger than just chat logs.

What did you send in initially? You need a wide variety of evidence - proof you have combined your affairs, proof you live together and proof of your relationship. If you're getting requests for more evidence you must of went light on one area and need to address that.
