I started working with the Government of Canada from May 21st, 2017 as a co-op student for the first 4 months, (May 22,2017 to Aug 31st, 2017) and continued working there as a part time student from Sept 1, 2017 to June 29th, 2018 (as I graduated in June).

I have proved myself to the agency and they offered me a 1 year term position from July 1st 2018. (So I have a 1 year job offer) I am also holding a work permit until 2021/07/04.

As it is a government job , the agency cannot make a permanent employee unless I have a permanent residency.

I currently have 425 points, and my job falls under Skill Level A category.

Under these circumstances, do I qualify for the 50 additional points in the category 8 (Do you have a valid job offer supported by a Labour Impact Assessment (if needed)). I know as a PGWP holder I do not require a LMIA, since I have studied and lived in Canada for over 2 years now.

Also, the bullet, “for one year from the time you become a permanent resident” is not really clear to me. I am applying for my Permanent residency, so how would I know when will I become a permanent resident.

Could you please help me understand if I can claim those points?

it has to be permanent job offer. you cannot use it for points.

You cannot. Those on PGWP do not qualify.

Alright. Thank you guys.
But I can apply under CEC after completing 1 year job right? (even contract one year full time)

I think not legal advice for any sort of PR , if you want points for job , you will need full-time job. But if you are not taking points for your job, you will not need it
