so we have been dealing with a situation for months now and I need advice.

My mother in law was here in canada on her 10 year visitor visa. she was staying for 6 months but her flight back to philippines got cancelled due to a manila lockdown so we applied for a visa extension.

She had her return flight on Feb 3rd 2021 and we got the visa approval letter on Feb 1st 2021 asking for a medical. She returned home and because we want to preserve her 10 year visa and not have a visa refusal on her account, she went to manila to have the medical.

That medical turned out to be a 5 day long medical with multiple xrays and TB sputum tests. this cost us lots of money and time as she lives over 6 hours from manila. not to mention manila has a huge covid outbreak and everytime she goes there she is at risk.

After those tests she was requested to come back AGAIN for an additional xray and evaluation. She went back and did that and they said they would send the results to the canadian government but that they were still awaiting the results of the tests and that could take up to 3 months. She is to go back again in June 25th to get those results.

Now we get an email about additonal medical test and that she needs to contact the medical office to see what is the additional tests. they are giving 60 days to comply.

The problem is that in philippines the offices are not handled very well. they do not answer the phone or emails and to contact them she needs to go back AGAIN. everytime she needs to do this is costs lots of money and time. so far we have spent ovet $1000 cad on this fiasco.

What should we do? call the cic? ask for notes? wait until june 25th for her next appointment?

These medicals are for the extension, right? I would try contacting IRCC to let them know she has left Canada and to request the extension be withdrawn.

they said that bcause the visa was already granted pending the medical, she needs to do these tests or else it will be recorded as a visa refusal. Of course it was granted 2 days before she left, just our luck.

I see. I guess you have your answer then. I would order your notes (no harm there) and plan to have her show up for the 25th. Don't think there's much more you can do apart from that.
