Hi all,
I am sponsoring my mom to immigrate to Canada and we received the following letter recently:

Dear applicant,

Your immigration medical examination result has been received and in order to complete the assessment additional information is required.

Please print out a copy of this message and present it to the panel physician who did your initial immigration medical examination. In exceptional situations, you may utilize the services of another panel physician used for Canadian immigration examinations (http://www.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx). Exceptional circumstances include: moving to a new location making it difficult to visit the original panel physician, or the original panel physician is no longer available.

You have 60 days from the date of this letter to comply with this request.

Kind regards,

Regional Medical Office (RMO)- Manila

Embassy of Canada Manila

I have a few questions regarding letter:
1) My mom is travelling outside her home country and won't return until the end of September. Do you think there is any ways to extend the 60 days requirement?
2) Say if she is required to treat certain virus such as HCV and it won't be done within 60 days even if she goes to see a doctor, what would happen? Does it mean the 60 days time requirement only ask her to see the physician and she or he can make a note in the system?
3) If she decides to visit a physician in the visiting country, would she able to return to home country to continue the medical exam at the initial panel physician after she returns?

I am also trying to get a hold of Manila office. Is there any contact other than the Webform? It took them a few days to respond.
Many thanks!

  1. This may constitute an exceptional circumstance. Can she find a panel physician where she is currently?
  2. The 60 day requirement is to see the physician. It has nothing to do with any specific treatment regimen.
  3. Why would this need to be in two visits? Presumably the additional information will be gathered at this next visit.
Contacting by webform is, unfortunately, the way you need to go about it.

1. Yes, she is able to do it. However, it might take a long time to book a specialist to start the treatment. The cost is also significantly more.
2. That is what I expected.
3. For example, if she is required to do both x ray and some other treatment. Is she able to do the x ray in the visiting country and then start the other treatment since it takes longer to get treated as pointed out in 1.

Thanks for the reply!

Hi,
So the Panel Physician is just doing an assessment for immigration purposes or, in this case, adding information, not necessarily performing treatment. If there is to be treatment from this physician, it would be a separate matter. (Here it would be a separate visit entirely.) Is the request from IRCC about a specific test or procedure the Panel Physician must perform?

Thanks for the response. IRCC asked for two things: 1. Chest X ray 2. Gastroenteritis's report: basically want the treatment result for HCV.

I am waiting for Manila's response for extending the 60 days requirement. If it cannot be extended, I will have to change my mom's return ticket.

Well, again, if there is a Panel Physician wherever she currently is, IRCC may accept this situation as a legitimate reason for her to visit that Panel Physician instead.

Hi all, so my mom went through the treatment at her home country and the result was submitted last week. Today I received a letter requesting for her passport. I understand that typically one has to land within a year before medical expires. She originally did the medical in April and was requested additional information such as X ray which was not done until June. As mentioned the result for treatment of HCV was submitted last week.
So in this situation, what is your estimate on the lasted landing date? Before next april? June or november 2020? Thanks!
