Hello All,

I was married about 9 years ago ... the additional family form contains a section for "Spouse or common-law partner". Note 1 states that I need to sign if no spouse or common law partner is listed ... but then the signature states that "I certify that I do not have a spouse or common law partner, ex-spouse, or former common-law parter".

Consfused ... they questions / statements conflict - do I sign as I don't have a current spouse or common-law partner?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,

Nigel.

He he he... I had the same problem. Perhaps the people who design these forms should have to take the IELTS.

Here's what I did... For both the "spouse" box and the signature line, I wrote "see attached" and then attached a page where I explained the contradiction, gave the details of my ex-spouse (same as requested for the spouse), and wrote:

"I certify that I do not have a current spouse or common law partner."

That's a great idea, thanks so much for your help ... it would be nice if it were clearer (some of the other forms / assistance also need some work to make clearer).

Nigel.
