Hi there,

Although we submitted our documents on 18th Aug, 2012, there are some documents missing for the 2nd process. However, I've received some of them such as my criminal record and birth certificate. Could I send them to Mississauga as an additional documents or do I have to wait for the request from them? If I can, what kind of information should I attach the additional documents? Do they give us a file number already if we call them??

you should wait until you have correspondence from Mississauga so you can reference a UCI# or file #.....they may return your application to you without these documents...it is hard to say....but usually if they do they provide you with these numbers so you don't lose your place in the que.......

no you can not send any docs before you receive AOR or sponsorship approval with your UCI and File no. i hope they dont need these docs for first stage approval.
after getting UCI, send these docs to your visa office

Hello thank you guys. I actually already have UCI#, since I've been in Canada over one year now(visitor status at the moment). In that case, can I send my documents with UCI#?

There is no way for CPC-M to match up documents in separate packages for the same application. Wait for your sponsor's approval or for them to return the application. If they approve the sponsor, forward the missing documents to the VISA OFFICE, not CPC-M. If they return the package, you will be advised whom to direct the package to when you return the completed application.

This topic is like a double edged sword. We waited until after the sponsor approval came and then forwarded to my VO all the documents we wanted to add BUT our package never cleared customs and has been sitting there for 4 weeks now. So sending documents after stage 1 is not as easy as is assumed. I am still chasing up in the hope these documents clear customs otherwise I will have to resend them again BUT once again if they got stopped once nothing to suggest this time they will clear customs :'(

And this is why you should send a complete application with everything on the checklist present and accounted for.

Did you put a value on the package you sent? If you put a value on the package, Customs will hold it to try to collect duties on it. When I was sending off our package, the FedEx guy advised me that you NEVER put a value on packages of documents, they should always be marked "NCV" for No Commercial Value, to prevent Customs holding on to them.

Yes we sent our package from Canada and the lady at the post office helped us to assemble the package also declaring the package had no moneitary value whatsoever and once it lands and is held in customs it is hard to get anybody to help with getting your package released and on it's way. You have to wait 4 weeks to make a complaint (which is where we were last Friday) and then they can investigate so scratching my head a little in regards to sit this out and wait OR to resend with the exact same possibility that the same problem may occur again *sighs*

What is "a value on the package" ??? The post officer didn't ask us about that at all.

"cash" value of contents.....paper writings should not have a value declared

Thank you so much for the explanation of "cash" value of contents. We weren't even asked about this, so it was okay, I assume.

I think timing is the issue....if CIC does not request additional documents or send your application back as soon as you are approved it is sent out.....therefore unless they are specifically asking for documents your file could be in transit before an additional package arrives......

With respect to already having a UCI# and sending a separate package under this # it might be hard to marry up both these pacakges if the original package has not been received.
