Additional Documents Required?

Hi,

In this forum I have seen people providing additional surplus documents beyond what is asked for by CIC. I clearly remember once Immigration Agent from CIC telling me that officers assessing the case usually gets frustrated at seeing lot of documents that are NOT required. However, Citizenship application could be different. I have seen folks submitting Rent receipts, Bank statements, Employment Letters etc. just to prove your residence and employement, I guess. CIC will confirm your entry and exit record from Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) irrespective of one giving additional documents. Regarding employment, I do not see anywhere that CIC asks for proof that you have worked for so and so employer.

I want to know your views on this. Does it make sense to submit additional documents in hope to avoid RQ? Or you will make your case complicated by submitting additional documents then what is required.

Please advise on this as many people in the forum I have seen inundating CIC with documents that are NOT really required.

Thanks in advance

I had a look at this earlier but nothing is conclusive. Many people are talking about health record from Alberta/Manitoba ministries. What is this for? Is it necessary/Important? if its better to submit can I submit it at later date? Please advise.

I submitted additional documents with my application: (note that the version of application form I filled out said to provide "records")
To prove employment during 4 yr period:
- Notice of assessments for taxes
- Letter from employer
- Pay stubs

To support entry/exit dates on application
- CBSA report
- Photocopy of all pages of passport

I did not submit health records or anything that is difficult to obtain.
No issues and no RQ.

During the interview the interviewer welcomed the CBSA report and said it made things a lot easier. I had over 30 entries/exits.

I think it depends on your circumstance. If you think it helps, then go for it.

I had ONLY 1 exit and 1 entry in last 3 years. Beside I recently renewed my PR card as well. Do you think its worth waiting for CBSA report? CAN I Submit this document at later date after I receive the file number etc? Please Advise.

If you check the citizenship application on fifth page under question 9(D) It asks specifically not to request the CBSA report.
