Additional 50 points for LMIA exempt

Hi All

I am not sure about the new rules in effect from Nov 19th. Basically I have a job offer which is LMIA exempt and valid through March 2018. The same employer is also mentioned in my current work permit. Please let me know whether I am eligible for the additional 50 points.

I am confused about the statement "Valid job offer - for one year from the time you become a permanent resident". How can anyone know when he/she will become permanent resident ?

Have you already worked for one year with the employer listed on your visa?

If so and you have a job offer that extends past 1 year, you are eligible for 50 points. If you haven't worked there for a year yet you are not.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
To add to what kryt0n said. Yes, you would also need a job offer for one year after you become PR.

Remember that this requirement used to be for a "permanent" job offer, now it is only one year after PR.

Cheers :)

Hi DelPiero07,

Sorry if I sound dumb on this topic :(. I have some queries about LMIA-exempt job offers. Is it possible to obtain the points (50 to 200) with only job offer if the applicant is still in India, for express entry? What is the most important requirement to be eligible for LMIA-exempt?

I am sorry if i sound repetitive with the question. Any help in this regard would be really helpful.

Thank you.

Having the job offer isn't sufficient, you must work for that employer for a year (assuming full-time work experience) and be currently working for such employer.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/offer.asp

you have a valid work permit for one of the listed skilled trade occupation and it’s exempt from needing an LMIA, and you:
  • are currently working for an employer specified on the work permit
  • have one year of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work) for the employer(s) on your work permit who is making the offer and
  • have a valid job offer from that employer for at least one year after we issue your permanent resident visa
