Addition of spouse name on your passport

Hello,

I want to make sure, whether we need to add spouse's name on to your passport?

As re-issue of passport will change passport number, will contradict passport number on all the document.

Please assist. Thank you.

Its not mandatory for IRCC as they mainly need marriage certificate to prove martial status ,but I would recommend you to update the passport if you have the time as you may need to get PCC(s) and other documents and also it depends on the passport office if they are ready to accept documents without spouse name to issue PCC.Check with the passport office.Additionally you will have to update your EE profile with the new details and passport number and write LOE to explain all these changes.

Please i need you help. I have read the 2links shared above and i feel i dont fall into any of the catergory. Below is my case.

I'm the principal applicant having my husband and 2kids as dependant.
I passport is still in my maiden name, i did ielts, wes and submitted with this passport whi h will be expiring in July 2017.

I have equally wrote it in my letter of explantion that i will like to be advised wheather to renew in my maiden name or my spouces name. I uploaded of marriage documents.

This is really worring me. I need to renew now. On which name should i renew.

The name decision in your renewal is up to YOU, that is if your country permits it.

It is very common in Canada for a married woman to keep her name.

Common sense, tell them you are married and show them proof.

Hi I have a question related to this. I will be the dependent spouse on my wife's EE profile, we'll be creating it as soon as we get the WES status updated. My passport doesn't have my last name on it, however all other document has my last name since passport is very old. I've already applied for a re-issue with last name, however I'm guessing it will take atleast 1 month. In the meantime, can my wife create her EE Profile(She's the primary applicant) and add my current passport details with other details? All my documents have my last name except my passport. We have also got our PCC certificates on our existing passports.

Adding spouse name is not needed. Accompanying spouse must have her passport and again adding your name in her passport is not needed.

Reissuing passport will change the passport number.
