Adding Spouse into Application after Passport Stamping Request - Express Entry

Hi Guys,

I am in a urgent need of help as I am in the following situation.

I applied under FSW program and got an ITA in June 2017, i submitted all my documents on Sep 20, 2017 and got a passport request mail on Oct 17, 2017. I had applied as a single candidate and have got 30 days from Oct 17, 2017 to send the passport for stamping. My medical date was Sep 2, 2017 so, my immigration (landing) validity would be there till Sep 1, 2018.

Now, the situation is that, i am getting married in Feb 2018. Should i tell CIC that this is the situation and seek their help to add spouse to my application. As i see, i can see 2 options for myself.

1) If send my passport for stamping now and get COPR and immigration stamp on my passport as a single candidate, later in Feb 2018 when i declare that i am getting married, they would ask for cancellation of my existing stamp and COPR and again ask for sending all my wife's documents and marraige certificate. Do you think this case is ok?

2) Second, would be to declare that I am getting married in Feb 2018. But I am worried that if they say show me marriage certificate, how would i would be able to show without getting married?

I am very worried and not able to decide what has to be done. Please help

Please search around you will find a lot of similar posts on this forum. I have read it somewhere that you will have to add your spouse before you do landing, because once you have landed you will then have to apply for Spouse Sponsorship which can take upto 2 years to process.

You have 2 options:

1. Land by yourself before you get married and then sponsor your spouse.

2. You only need to inform cic after the marriage is done. Not sure if they will recalculate your CRS if you add her at this stage. So play safe.

1. Yes, no problem.
2. CIC is not interested to know that you WILL get married. You need to inform them when you get married. Otherwise, there is no point of doing so since you don't have a proof of relationship yet.
Go ahead and send the passport for stamping and then collect your spouse's documents to be ready when you get officially married.
Other option (which is up to you) would be to get officially married now and add your wife and get the ceremony in Feb. 2018 as you originally planned.

Many thanks for your reply. Just a few follow up questions.

For Reply 1: There is no clear indication in other posts how and to send back passports - whether to send them along with new passport requests )for me and my wife both) or to send them as when requested.?

For Reply 2: How to get legally married? As i understand, it takes 30 days for court marriages to occur? I do not have that kind of time right now. Do you think there is any other way? Registering a marriage would require wedding photos and wedding card. Kindly suggest if you have a solution around this.

I had searched for other posts and found out that, there is no clear closures to the queries raised, hence have raised it again here. I don't want to land and then sponsor. We want to go together, hence looking for options accordingly.

So for your answer 2: I understand you are asking me to get my visa stamped now and then inform them about marriage in Feb 2018 with the relationship proof?

1- You don't worry about returning the passport now. CIC will send you the exact instructions and what you should do when you inform this about your marriage.
2- I am not sure about the rules in your country. But if takes less than 4 months (the time from today till Feb. 2018), you will save sometime. But if you don't have that much time, you have no other option but to wait for your marriage in Feb. 2018.

2. May be after getting my visa stamped i can tell them that i am legally married now and would then be able to send my spouse documents as well.
Right now, i just have 30 days to get my visa stamped or tell them i am getting married or legally married etc, which i feel would be difficult to achiev

HI Did you send your passport to CIC after your marriage to cancel the COPR?
