If one gets married after getting visa stamped on passport and before landing, can the spouse be then added to the application?

It's mandatory that you add your spouse to your application. If you fail to add your spouse to your application before landing - you will never be able to sponsor your spouse and will also be committing misrepresentation by landing on a visa that was issued to you when you were single.

You need to return your PR visa to the visa office and notify them that you are now married. You must also submit all of the paperwork and evidence to add your spouse to your application - including medical and PCCs. CIC will then complete additional processing to add your spouse to your application (expect to wait 3-4 months). Once this processing is complete, CIC will issue a new PR visa to you and also one to your spouse.
