Hi There ,

am preparing the Family class Sponsorship for my Spouse who is in India. She is expecting and due ina week .

I do not want t o wait untill i take passport for my child and bundle the Form all together.but thought i wil appy 1st for my Wife.

so is it possible to send the Forms just for my wife now ,and then add the Child later when his/her passport and BC is ready.

What should i inform CIC ,so that they dont reject the application later .(I read some where that in the Family information forms if i dont mention the names i will not be able to sponsor them later) and by the time i post my forms am sure i will have my baby into the world.

Please help

You can send your application now. Add a letter explaining that your wife is pregnant, and that you will add the child to the application as soon as he/she is born. WHen the baby is born, get the birth certificate, the passport, pictures for immigration etc. and send it to your VO (by that time, you probably will have been approved as a sponsor, and so your file will be in New Delhi), together with the updated form - the one where you declare your wife as a principal applicant, and eventual dependent, as well as the family composition. New Delhi will substitute the forms in your file with the new forms, and they will issue a visa for your baby at the same time as for your wife when the PR is ready.

Good luck - and congratulations on the baby!

Hi there
i just just saw your post here
here is the thing you dont have to add your child in your wife case as a dependent bcoz your child is all ready canadian by birth, if you are canadian citizen. just apply for the candian birth certificate of your baby n after that canadian passport for your baby

The sponsor is a PR and the child will be born in India, so it will not be Canadian.

Amendments to the Citizenship Act limit citizenship by descent

On April 17, 2009, the rules changed for people born outside Canada. Citizenship by birth outside Canada to a Canadian parent (citizenship by descent) is now limited to the first generation born or adopted outside Canada

This means that, in general, children born outside Canada to a parent who was a Canadian citizen at the time of birth will only be Canadian at birth if:

the parent was born in Canada, or
the parent became a Canadian citizen by immigrating to Canada (becoming a permanent resident) and being granted citizenship (also known as naturalization).
Note: Some naturalized citizens became citizens by descent by operation of law on April 17, 2009. If you think this may apply to you and you need more information, please contact us (see the “How to Contact CIC” section at the end of this guide).

There are no Canadian citizens involved here... Therefore your information is not relevant.
