This is a slightly unusual question, but I was only just notified that my Canadian Permanent Resident status is still valid, in spite of not having been resident in Canada since 2010.
I know my Canadian PR status is valid because when I applied for an ETA to visit Canada, I was denied because my PR is still valid. However, my PR card has expired and I cannot renew it without proof of having resided in Canada for 730 days in the past five years.
My brother is looking at applying for the Canadian Federal skilled workers program. One of the factors he can be awarded five points for is if he has a Canadian Permanent Resident family member (including sibling).
Would he be able to claim points through my valid Canadian Permanent Resident status, even through I have not been resident in Canada since 2010?
