Active Tuberculosis - please help

I live and work in Canada on a work permit but I was diagnosed of active tuberculosis after my Medicals for express entry. I have been undergoing treatment for the past one month. The doctors have told me the treatment will last for at least 6 months although I am currently not infectious anymore.

My question is, how long after treatment is completed will I receive PPR.

I have searched the forum and found no clear answers on this.

Usually you have to have cleared your TB and have a negative sputum test. It is very uncommon for people to test positive for TB and be treated for TB in Canada unless you arrived as a refugee. Canada tries to test anyone who is entering Canada because they don’t want TB to be an issue here. Should mention there is some TB in Canada but it is usually limited to 3 specific populations: aboriginal people living on reserves, homeless people and refugees. You would also have to prove that you have been cured because multi drug resistant TB is pretty common and the treatment is very demanding and often inpatient so that would trigger a potential medical inadmissibility issue.

Thanks for your reply but in my case I have been living here since 2016 and I tested positive in Canada.

It was discovered while applying for Canadian experience class program.

You must have gone home after or during your studies/PGWP because you would have been screened before you came to Canada. Catching TB in Canada would be incredibly unlikely unless you were living in overcrowded housing on a reserve or living with homeless people. Most Canadian doctors will never see a case of TB. Until you are free from TB you won’t pass the medical. The primary fear will be multi drug resistant TB or just drug resistant TB that could require much longer term treatment and likely isolation. That would be a public health issue and an expensive condition to treat. Depending on where you are from you may just have normal TB and will have to do repeat chest X-ray plus sputum cultures (2months). If you are clear you will pass the medical. That is unless you have other health issues. I am sure you are currently being followed by a public health agency.

Hi i did medical exam on 4 april and i got called on 12 april to give sputum samples as they said my X-ray are abnormal may be i have tuberculosis i gave samples on 16 april but i haven't get result yet and they refer me to tb specialist and booked appointment after 25 days its so far i don't know what's happening. Anyone how diagnosed with tb and get pr.

hi, I am in same condition as you.
I did my upfront medical on 9 march
but I was recalled for sputum test on 22,23 and 24 march.
now i am waiting for my result as it is supposed to take 60-65 days.
buy they didnt refer me to any tb specialist.

They refer me to tb specialist for further investigation because RMO have requested for it anothrr reason is that my all sputum smears were negative but my X-ray shows tuberculosis that's why they refer me to tb specialist. We are also waiting for sputum culture which is coming in next 4 weeks.

Your sputum swears were negative??
Are you already in canada??

Snears don’t mean anything. You need to see if the culture grows. That is the standard test.
