My husband was detected with Tb in feb 2018 and we had applied for the pr in jan 2018. The process was delayed and post 6 month treatment he was asked to do a 8 week sputum tests and X-ray and I was asked to undergo medical tests too. We got an update that we have passed the medical test on 6th December 2018! We are still waiting for the final decision. Any idea how long can it take and if there is any way I can find out why so much delay?

Hello,
I have also faced the same situation. I submitted application in first week of Feb 2018 and medical was also performed in the same week. My spouse, dependent applicant, had to start TB treatment in May and was till first week of November. After that had go for sputum test and still waiting for the results.
Our 1 year validity of medical is going to expire in first week of Feb 2019.
As you mentioned you were asked for medical again. Was it after the expiry of one year or before that? When was your first and previous medical performed?
What about PCC and Funding?

I would be glad if I could know these things and could know about my situation as it same like you.

Regardless of how long your previous medical remains valid, my understanding is that you are required to go through medical after the TB treatment to ensure that TB is indeed cured. You can always provide PCC to your local visa office, although PCC is only valid for 6 months. I'm not quite sure what you meant by "funding". There's no funding provided for medical unless you are going through refugee application. You are 100% responsible for medical exams and tests.

My dad is in the similar situation where his chest X-ray shows abnormality and he had TB in the past. Although we do not believe that he has TB, he was ordered to do sputum tests and chest X-ray in 3 months time. Since no one else in the family, including the little ones, have TB that I seriously doubt that my dad has active TB, which is very contagious. But, CIC regulation dictates that he undergoes further tests to confirm that he really does not have TB.

Your file gets placed on hold if you don't pass the medical. You may get a pass on redoing your medical if you are young and relatively healthy you'll have to see whether you receive another request although you will have to do repeat x-ray and sputum test to confirm that treatment has been successful.

I'm in a similar boat here. Can you please share if there's been any progress in your case? Since you got medical clearance , is there any update to the PR application yet. Also, has CIC asked you to submit the rest of the documents again. ?
Please reply ,I really need some solid information as I'm not sure how these things proceed in such medical cases.

In my case, I was detected with positive non-pulmonary TB (lymphadenitis) in Sept 2018 and I started medication from Oct first week .In march the treatment's finally going to get complete. The specialist I'm going to has told they are sending regular update to the embassy . There is no change in the PR application profile for me , but I'm excepting that after the panel physician gives a green signal maybe I'd get a response from them.
My doubt here is will I be required to do all the tests again ? Did cic ask you to submit any other documents? And my age has changed in this duration from 25 to 26. Do i need to update these minor things , as these are not impacting the CSR score when ITA was issued for me.

Regards

my wife applied for the paper-based Spouse Open Work Permit and we went for the medical today. She had the non-active TB as a lump in her neck 5 years ago and it wasn't identified from a x-ray. but, was only identified through a biopsy from the lump. we completed the treatments and got it cured. she went for the medical today and when Doctor inquired about the history she has mentioned about it. If they don't identify anything on the X-ray will it be a problem based on the past history

Hi! I would just like to know, what happens next after 6 mos of tb treatment? During the treatment, there is an xray done on the 3rd and 6th month, while there is an afb/culture on the 2nd and 4th month.
My medical will expire on Sept 14, 2019. My treatment would probably end by 1st week of Oct 2019.
If I pass and got medical clearance...
1.Do you think cic would still require for remedical due to expiration?
2.Will I get tested again for xray 3 months after October if and only they requested for remedical?

Please enlighten me guys. Thank you.

Applied under express entry

Medical was performed in the first week of Feb 2018. My medical was clear but my spouse had scars in x-ray.
After 15 days got call from clinical that my wife required further sputum test which were performed in second last week of Feb.

In last week of April we had to start 6 months treatment after getting positive sputum test report (report issued b/w 8-10 weeks).
X-rays were performed after every two months during treatment.

After completion of treatment in the first week of November again we had to go through sputum test and negative report was declared in the third week of January. After that, medical exam passed status appeared in GIC account.

In second last week of January both of get re-medical request as previous one was going to expire in the first week of February.

We went for medical in last week of January and medical passed status was updated after 15 days. Subsequently, we got visa approval e-mail within 72 hour of status updation.

Nothing to worry about. You will have to take medication for 6-9 months. This will not impact your PR application. Taking TB medications is not easy, as it impacts your psychologically. So make sure you stay positive and get as much help from your family and friends.

I hope you get well soon and this was diagnosed early.

Hello, may I ask a follow up question. Currently waiting for PR and work visa extension, my work visa will expire soon. If the process will be delayed because of the treatment, does that mean I need to go back home as my visa is expiring soon? Need help please

No, you will have an implied status in Canada until you receive a decision on your PR application. You need not leave Canada.

Hi yan03,

Trust you're well.

Congratulations on getting your medicals cleared.

Have you received your PPR now? If yes, how long after medicals was cleared did you receive the request.

Thank you.
