Hello all!

I apologize if this topic has been covered elsewhere (and if so, a link would be most appreciated) but if not, I'd really love some help and insight into my predicament. So, thank you in advance!

My wife of twelve years is a natural born American citizen. I'm a dual Canadian (natural born, immigrated to the US when I was five)/US citizen and we are planning to move to Canada in the beginning of June 2018. We currently reside outside of Canada in Florida and have no residency or address in Canada save for my aunt and uncle who have offered us the opportunity to stay with them, use their residency as a mailing address etc. We submitted her family sponsorship application on December 1st 2016 and sent it in with the police and medical records that were requested. She received a message today about her COPR expiration date being one year from her medical exam which would put it in the middle of November 2017! That's way too close for us to get firmly established.

So, I'm trying to figure out what we can do. Can we get her landed and still be in the US until we are able to establish ourselves in June 2018? Can we use my aunt/uncle's address and say, fly up to Canada for a few weeks before the expiration of her COPR, get it finalized for her PR card and the like and then come home and begin finalizing our move? I plan to go up to Canada several times between November and June to further establish ourselves so that's a factor. Any suggestions or insight would be most helpful and appreciated.

Thanks!

You can land to active her PR and then return. Give the aunt & uncles' address for the PR card to be sent to. I'm just impressed that you got it at all without providing proof you intended to move to Canada soon, you applied about a year early.

I guess we jumped the gun a little, heh. We still haven't been approved just yet so still hoping for that as well. Thank you for your reply!

Make sure to prepare lists of whatever property you want to move to Canada.
She only has one chance to move it tax-free.
