For all who are worried about filing through Accra, I think things have changed at their office. Before applying I was under the impression that this would take 8 months to complete at best; I figured this from my experience with immigration and researching forums such as this, but to my surprise our application took 2months and 22 days, God be praised.

I’m Nigerian and so is my wife, I just immigrated to Canada last year from the U.S. We sent everything with the initial application, (medicals, police cert., photos, emails, screenshots from skype, etc). My wife had an interview, she said it was as though the IO did not go through our file but it was just on the table, she said the questions were basically the how’s and why’s of our relationship, almost random and follow-up questions from her answers, and that the IO was polite and cordial.

We had missed a signature on the form IMM5406E during our initial submission to Mississauga, I was still approved as a sponsor and informed that the application was incomplete; the incomplete form IMM5406E was returned and we were requested to send the signed copy to Accra.

04/06/2010 --Sent to CIC Mississauga
04/07/2010 --Recieved by CIC Mississauga
5/11/2010 --Received letter; approved to sponsor --requested missing document, informed that app.
has been sent to accra (also on ECAS)
5/28/2010 – fedex delivers to accra documents to complete application
5/28/2010 --Wife received call from accra office, informed of interview on 6/29/2010
5/28/2010 --Saw on ECAS that accra started processing application on 5/27/2010
6/12/2010 -- I received letter in Canada informing of wife’s interview (interview date was already on
ECAS before letter was received)
06/29/2010 --interview, visa collected same day

Hope this gives some insight to dealings with Accra, we are happy and Thanking God, good luck to all

Congratulations, friend..that is great news!!

:D :D :D

Congratulations! Your timeline is truly a blessing from God. Best of luck to you both. ;D

Amazing! So glad for you!
Now you can enjoy life, lol :)

Congratulations Dear!
Where there is God, there is hope.

I understand you being all worried relating to everyone's experience through the same Visa office your going through, but really.. it doesn't make sense to stress everyone's timeline BECAUSE EVERYONE'S CASE IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT.

HAVE A BLESSED DAY! :D

I can't wait for my buddy, Bobshynoswife to see this! :) God has been good to you!

Yeah!!! Oh, Congratulations!!!!!

Posts like this are giving me HOPE that Accra is moving fast these days! I am still crossing my fingers that they won't discriminate against me because of my gender or race...it seems that most of the quick approvals in Accra are by Black men sponsoring their black wives. White wives sponsoring black husbands seem to have a much harder time, which is so wrong!

I am so happy for you mogreen!

bobshynoswife:

WOW! I've NEVER heard of this type of discrimination. Perhaps the only reason this could be is if these men have a proven track record in misleading white women in order to come to Canada.

(Example: Numerous complaints filed with immigration after these men get their PR). :( Do some more research and perhaps you can find someone in your situation with a positive story to tell. :)

Best of Luck to all!!!!

I know that interracial marriages are a problem in some visa offices, like Jamaica, for example. My husband has told me this is not as big of an issue in Africa, so I am hoping he's right!

And yes, there are a lot more African men scamming Canadian women for citizenship than there are African women scamming Canadian men.

This post just makes me hopeful that we could possibly have an interview in the near future, because once they meet my husband and he talks about our relationship, they will have no doubt it is genuine.

mogreen:
CONGRATULATION :) :) :) GOD IS GOOD!!!

That's great! Well I pray that everything goes in your favor. :)

Its not fair for Immigration to judge one couple based on the experiences of another. Ive read a bit about the scamming in Nigeria (sponsored men also married to African women, the men moving back home after getting their PR etc). :-[

But I'm also sure that there are interracial couples from Nigeria with positive stories to tell. Each file should be evaluated on a case by case basis- not based on generatizations & stereotypes.

Best of Luck once again!
