dear i am associate member of ICMA and waiting for PASSPORT REQUEST, i need the help of accountants have landed or about to land, how to prepare myself at this stage to get a job/career in Canada without wasting time
 
I am a Controller (Finance) and my company relocated me from the U.S to Edmontom (Alberta). I did not have to look for a job. Please check these websites.

It is better to go thru placement agencies as they will provide more choices. They do not charge any fee from candidates.

Toronto is crowded and try avoiding this city. Be prepared to take any survival job until you get a job in your specialty. If you are a person with family, complete the landing with family but come alone for job search and bring your family during summer time. It is very cold out here.

I also think that it is very important for us (finance professionals) to coordinate on a separate plateform. I am also ACMA and I received my PPR 1 on October 22, 2012 and now waiting for PPR2. I am planning to land in Calgary in March 2013. As per my research till date, I think I should get scholarship offered by CMA-Alberta for international designated accountants. Further I am also appearing in CIMA gateway exams in this Nov-12. I want to ask can I claim CMA-Canada on the basis of CIMA after qualifying CIMA.

i think you can get if complete Cima as both enjoys strategic allaince why not think about CGA because they also give advance standing to ICMAP

I am still yet to lodge my application once the temporary pause will be lift.

I hope you guys who will be landing soon or already landed will continue to post updates here so other Accountants and Auditors will be benefited.

This is good topic for accountant who want to landed canada.
I need advise from all of our Accountant and finance community who is planning to immigrate canada.
I am ACMA as well as doing CIMA which is in final stage, I want to apply my case as an Accountant/Finance Manager/Auditor under NOC0 111 Financial managers,but i come to know that without arrangement employmnet they are not accepting federal skilled worker application.
Can any body advise me which case is suitable for me to file application as federal skilled worker to get chance to my application will be accepted for processing.
Wating reply from all my Finance community , Thank a lot in advance

This is a good platform for us finance professionals to leverage our experience and share our views. I am ACCA qualified; applied through Quebec because FSW cap reached within 7 days last year for NOC 1122. I am affraid it may get filled in just 2 days if at all it will be in the list when the quota thing will be reopened. I strongly advise fellow friends to think Quebec to eschew any unpleasant surprise. But FRENCH is the problem.Just start learning it genuinely; as it is the working language of Quebec; an avoid using Quebec as a bacdoor to enter Canada

Really, very much worried these accountants and auditors about their landing and job searching in CANADA.

I am also in the same boat but i am ready to work any where so u also ready for the same.

My flight to TORONTO is 04 Dec 2012 with ur prayers and ur kind help.

Nothing could be said at this moment untill the pause on Federal Skilled Worker Category will be withdrawn. But there are meager chances for finance professionals. So I would also suggest to imediately start learnig french and think about Quebec Immigration. As french is mandatory for Quebec.

accontant /finance related course are being regulated in canada. the first thing to do now is to first seek recognition of cma canada,especially when most of you are icma holder from your country no need to write any exams .all you need to do is to check cma ontario or alberta,novascotia for what you supposed to bring from your country....i.e your professional exams result,letter from your associate that you are member in good standing etc...

you will be exempted from writen many paper but be ready to pay the sacrifice and unlimited enjoyment at the completion of those paper
