Hi Guys,

I domicile in Sydney, Australia, and work as a junior fund accountant. Since getting permanent residency in Accountancy has become extremely challenging here, I am planning to move to Canada under 6314 Customer Service NOC – I’ll tell you why:

In my situation, I understand that to get PR in Canada I require at least three years of experience. Currently, it’s been just over two years’ for me at the accounting firm and consequently I am short by a year to claim three years work exp.

Notwithstanding the above, I do have a customer service experience for over a year as well. I used to work at Officeworks and it was purely customer service role.

Personally, I believe that my accounting exp. (and duties) fall under customer service role as I communicate with the clients’ on a daily basis, help auditors to gather information, do follow-ups with third parties on behalf of the clients’, etc.

So, let’s say, if I treat my current role (Accountant) under 6314 NOC, then I will be eligible to claim three years of work exp. Therefore, my points will shoot up to 468, under which I have a high chance of getting the invitation.

Could someone please clarify if the above can be done? Will Canadian Authorities object this treating of accounting as customer service post invitation?

Thank you very much in advance,

Rishi.

Not all of your 3 years of work experience has to be under the same NOC.

So what i would do is claim your work experience under Accountant and then claim the remainder of your work experience for Customer Service rep for your other job, in total it would add up to 3 years of work experience.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Correct me if I am wrong, I have been advised that there would be one key NOC and others must be under the key one only. Therefore, I was a bit confused and lost.

So, you are saying that I can lodge my file under two NOCs - Accountant and Customer Service 6314?

Thank you,

Rishi

You apply under one specific NOC occupation, so let's say that's Accountant 1111, basically this is the occupation you are applying for under FSW as your qualifying occupation and work experience, i.e. you need at least one year of continuous full time work experience in this occupation. Your work reference will be verified to ensure that you are eligible to claim this occupation under which to immigrate to Canada. However, the rest of your work experience, even if they are under other NOCs and in different occupations can be combined in order to obtain the additional points for 3 years of foreign work experience under the CRS.

You're only going to claim Accountant as your main NOC, the other NOC, in your case Customer Service 6314, is added to your work history in your application just to claim the additional points for your CRS score. However, you do have to provide the work reference for that job as well in order to claim it.

Thank you kindly for such a concise summary.

I understood and will do the same. And with respect to work/employment letter, I already have them from both the companies.

Have a wonderful day.
