Accompanying my father to Canada

Hi,

My family and I have planned to visit Canada in summer vacation. My father applied online for a visitor visa about a week ago and currently he is required to provide his biometrics through a visa application center (VAC). Unfortunately, he forgot to include us in the application before he applied so I figured that I need to submit a new application under my name and include the rest of my family (my mother and brother) in it. My main question here is why is it asking me for a proof of means of financial support even though I've chosen that I am financially dependent in the application? Could it be just a technical error? And more importantly, can we just cut to the chase and edit my father's application to include us?

On a different note, there hasn't been any payment withdrawn from my father's MasterCard yet although he has provided all necessary information, when do they actually withdraw the application fees?

It's not a mistake. Your father will need to provide a letter of support stating he's going to pay for the trip and attach a proof that he has the funds, e.g. bank statements for the previous 4 months.

Does that mean I have to include the proof of funds for both "Proof of Financial Resource of Supporter" and "Proof of Means of Financial Support" except that the first one needs one extra document which is the letter of support?

Yes, although for proof of financial resource of supporter I'd include job contract or proof of business ownership to prove steady income and the origin of funds

Unfortunately, my father's application has been refused due to the following reasons:

• Immigration status in country of residence
• Purpose of visit
• Current employment situation

What makes me even more frustrated is that I've already submitted our application which has the same documents of proof of financial support as my father's refused application and it's currently being processed, however, their main concerns seem to be my father's immigration status and current employment situation. He put salary statement as a proof of current employment situation, and used his resident ID card as a proof of his immigration status in the country of residence.. but apparently that failed to satisfy the officer. There is zero chance my application is getting approved now as I've written that I will be accompanying my father to Canada in the letter of explanation document.
