Abu Dhabi -- Spouse Immigration and sponsorship

Hello,

I have been working and living in Middle East ( Saudi Arabia ) since 2003 and got married in 2004

I recently applied for spouse immigration sponsorship to Canada.

Completed all the documents and application kit as mentioned on CIC WEBSITE
and more specifically >>> If your spouse, partner or dependent child lives abroad, use the Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class. <<<

After the application within one month, i got a letter asking for more details

1) IMM 5549 - Supplementary Information Form.. As an example, question 2 - countries where you have visited or lived in since your 18th birthday. You must ensure that you list all your travels according to the stamps on your passport since age 18 and indicate what was the activity/purpose of your visit in that country (i.e. tourism, business, visiting family, etc.).

Now, Question here is, my wife travelled to Netherlands but on the passport the stamp is for the FIRST PORT OF ENTRY IN EUROPE / Schengen Visa . First we landed in France and got the passport stamped and then flew to Amsterdam.
So, should I enter France or Netherlands ? or both ?

Another question on the form is:
xxx) explain why you have not had to serve in any armed force and proceed to question 6

my spouse wrote: Women are not allowed by law to join Army / Military in Saudi Arabia..will that be enough


2) Please update the attached IMM 5540 -Sponsor Questionnaire. This form should be completed by the sponsor in Canada only.

I had already mailed this form to them, but they want me to update and send me again. Now is this form for someone who lives in Canada ?

I live and work in Saudi Arabia , so does this form apply to me?


3) Please complete and return to our office the attached Residency Questionnaire. This should be completed by the principal applicant only and not your sponsor. Please answer ALL questions on the form.

question 8) Will you the principal cancel your Gulf Residence Visa ?

a) Yes

b) No, if no, please explain.


So my spouse selected NO because she cannot cancel Gulf Residence Visa because she is Saudi Citizen and not only that this question is not applicable to her because Residence VISA is held only by non-Saudi Citizens. .........
so what should she select ?
Not Applicable or option B ( NO, if no please explain ...),,
question 10) Has your sponsor filed the most recent annual tax filing with the Canada Revenue Agency as a factual resident of Canada
a) YES -- if yes when __ month __ year
b) NO --if no, please explain why not ?

Last time i filed for tax return was for 2003 and I left Canada in 2004. So what should I write above ?

question 11) Is your Sponsor currently employed in a permanent full-time position in Canada
a) YES
b) NO, my sponsor is currently not employed.

She selected option B) NO, my sponsor is currently not employed.
But he is employed in Saudi Arabia and not in Canada


Anyone has faced similar question and if you can help me out , i will appreciate your help.

could you pls provide your time line so it would give an idea about your process.

you are right that one can sponsor spouse from outside canada but that is only if the sponsor is canadian citizen.

1. I am not sure about this query of yours.
2.Sponsor Q is for hte sponsor to fill and provide his/her details.
3. In Resi Q they ask if you will cancel the Gulf visa. this is mainly to know if you will go to canada once the visa is given. They do not intend giving visa to those people who will not go there and work and be a part and contribute to the country (canada). If you get the canada visa and just go there and return to gulf and stay here, you are not of any use to them ..... and hence they are not very willing to give visa to such people.
hence the resi Q must be filled with care and with that point in mind that they are looking for those people who will go to canada once the visa is issued.
