About to apply for TRV

I am an interational phd student in the UK and is billed for a conference in canada. Though I have previously applied for PR in the 2008 slot but asked for refund, with a conference application visa been rejected once in the UK, I did not know that it really takes much effort to apply for a TRV. To be frank I have not been making good applications with the knowledge I have now. I have a good travel history and do not have much problem with obtaining visas, to every other country except canada, though partly my fault, I just feel I am sincere and donot produce much documents and explanation, assuming that I will be given the visa. To be frank the reasons they have been given to me for past refusal is not just the reality but I have seen that they need evidence without sentiments. I need to address the concerns they have raised in the past,which is insufficient funds and ties to country. How much do someone need while going for a conference of 10days?

My dilemna is that I am attending a conference that I have been attending over 6years constantly with this years conference taking place in toronto canada. The paper I submitted for the conference will determine my phd outcome. I am telling myself I wish it's not canada. I really need some advice cos the conference airfare and accomodation is already paid by the university, :-[. So I have to apply!

If you can, I would include proof in the application that you have attended all of the six past conferences (i.e. proof that attending this conference is an annual activity for you). Definitely include proof to show what other countries you have visited - especially if you have visited other countries requiring visitor visas. Can you show a bank balance of $5K? This is far more than you need. However it should help to convince CIC that you are a genuine visitor.

Gone to canada and back to the UK

My journey to canada was smooth and enjoyable. I had a very nice experience. Of note was how nice and cool canadians are! It really made me change my mind from staying in the UK. I have decided to stay in the UK for a while, because my department needs me to continue my research after my phd or go back to my job in my home country, this made me withdraw my application for 2007 batch of FSW and not applying for the may 2014 batch. But my visit to canada has changed all that! Its not that facilities in canada is more than the UK, with the UK for me having more prospects for now, but I got infected by the attitude and community spirit in canada, speaking from the point of a minority in a minority .

Therefore I have decided to get into the process again! I observed lots of research is required, which is what I am ready to do but I need guidiance. I am almost late for the ongoing FSW, and provincial nomination programmes. I am considering the express entry starting from 1st january 2015, but feel that the process is very stringent. My details are as follows;

I have more than three years working experience as a petroleum engineer and aerospace engineer (Regulated professions), I have observed that these NOcs have been exhausted for a very long time. I am currently being considered as a research fellow in one of the UK universities, on finishing my phd in two weeks time. I have been teaching as part of my duties in the training school of the organization in my home country. My current interest is becoming an academic and lecturer! How do I go about it. Please I need advice. Forgive my long missive .

Thanks, mikey I hope so, really like the atmosphere in canada, they uphold honesty and integrity in high esteem, and those are the values I cherish! Please I am considering applying for the ongoing FSW , since my interest cap is not yet full, am I really late? Should I take the leap? Do you advice me to apply or wait for the express 2015! My issue is that I will like to have a high prospect of having a job before going to canada, instead of leaving the one I am about to start over here in the UK. Please any advice on how to get a job in canada? I know I need to do lots of research, but I need a lead! :'(.

I'm not sure if this will help, but you can visit the following link and then search for the prospective job that you want along with the region in Canada that you wish to work in. For example: "Civic engineer in Edmonton". Here's the link: http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/home-eng.do?lang=eng If you find an available position that you are interested in you can apply for it (the job ad' will give you the details). And of course you will need various documents to legally work in Canada, whether it's a valid work permit or otherwise. I hope this helps. All the best and congrats on landing your TRV.
