In the cover letter, you should primarily explain that you have attached reference letter + pay stubs to prove completeness of the eligibility criteria, since you will not have T4 till end of this year and NOA till May next year.

Hi Raj2014,

I think you can submit the reference letter plus the pay stubs from your new employer. That should be enough. As far as the contents of the reference letters are concerned, please see Section 10 of the Checklist for CEC application. The link is given below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5610E.PDF

Also, in addition to a letter from HR, a letter from your manager or supervisor would also be very helpful.
Hello Auone,

Means I should get 2 same letter from HR manager and supervisor ??

No not the same. I only suggested a letter from supervisor because normally, the supervisors can provide more details about your job and role within a department. If you feel the letter from your HR has provided ample details, then there is no need for getting a letter from the supervisor.

Hi Guys,

I have got one more question: Like I've explained earlier, as postdoc, im issued T4A and tax is not deducted at the source. So, my paystubs only show the amount paid and there are no tax deductions shown there. Should I attach my paystubs with my application?

Since I started in October 2013, I won't have NOA for 2014 till May next year. That is why, I wanted to attach my paystubs to show continued employment?

Hi

I personally did not send Stubs with the actual application; they took my employment reference letter, T4’s and NOA’s as proof of employment. Note the T4’s & NOA’s were requested in July and the application submitted in January 2014.

However, others have submitted their stubs to support their applications; this is good advice and should be considered.

I assume that sending paystubs with the application is the actual question?

There seems to be other information that is not relevant to that question, such as “im issued T4A and tax is not deducted at the source” & “my paystubs only show the amount paid and there are no tax deductions shown there”. Not sure what relevance this has to sending the paystubs.

Paystubs, reference letters etc are to confirm eligibility to apply under CEC; they are not concerned with tax payments. Your NOA (2013) will show any tax you are liable for or have paid for the small amount of work done in 2013. You reference letter should be confirming the number of hours, duties pay rates etc.

Thx

A

Hi Dr_Midnite

Thank you very much for the detailed response. It clears a lot of questions in my head.

I was just worried that since the paystubs show Income Tax Deducted = 0, the VO might think that I'm self employed. That's why I wanted to ask about sending the paystubs. But your response clarifies everything. Thanks a lot.

Guys I have another question, and I am posting it here since I don''t want to start a new thread for this.

I am applying under CEC and have my wife in my application as well. She is with me in Canada. Does she need to sign the Use of Representative (IMM5476) form to declare me as her representative?

Hi

CIC will review your file and ask you to supply T4's and NOA's for all the years in Canada. They will not ask for the 2014 T4 or NOA in 2014 as they know they are not completed until 2015.
I have been in Canada for the past 6 years - 4 years I was a student, 1 year I was working full time for my co-op and since Nov 2013 I have been working after graduation. I will only be using my experience after my graduation for CEC qualifying experience but I did file my taxes for all 6 years. So should I only submit the NOA for 2013 or should I also be submitting it for 2012/past years?

Hi

CIC will determine which NOA's and T4's they require and ask you for them.

In my case I have been here since 2011 and they requested them all. I did not send anything with my application, the instructed me what to send.

My advice is have them available in the event they are requested.

Thx

you should be fine with 2013 NOA, Also u have pay stubs and employer letter to support that.

in any case u shud not wait for NOA to apply.....go ahead and apply.

even if CIC needs your NOA they will ask for it later in june.

No. you are the principal applicant - You can appoint a representative (e.g. Lawyer, certified consultant) but that's entirely optional (that would cover the whole application).
